@chanceharrison:matrix.org | In reply to @winny:matrix.org Cf has a nasty rep of breaking stuff for random end users. I have a friend in MN who still to this day can't access any CF resources. Might have to find a different internet connection. Sorry about that. I'm not an admin, just personal experience. Thanks for sharing your personal experience. I have no reason to believe this is due to my connection since I can otherwise access the site normally (and hardly ever encounter CF blocks on other sites) but something about submitting a wiki page edit triggers the CF WAF that's enabled on the wiki. | 02:17:39 |
@chanceharrison:matrix.org | I would personally suggest that we look into whether certain wiki accounts (i.e., those that are manually approved?) could be exempted (or at least handled more leniently) from the blocking | 02:18:35 |

Edit: I actually don't know whether it's Cloudflare's WAF that's responsible here or if it's one of their other security-related offerings. Unless there is some infrastructure transparency that I don't know about, I have no clue what the problem is. But I would like to this we could figure out a solution that both protects the wiki while not blocking legitimate use.

@winny:matrix.org | If I were to be completely honest you don't need cf. It's just our approach to maximizing what feels like a $5 VPS for everything. | 02:23:57 |
@chanceharrison:matrix.org | I'm all for maximizing said $5 VPS, and if CF if part of that, I'm all for it. I would just also prefer to be able to contribute to the wiki. | 02:25:09 |

Jose just activated a bunch of quite aggressive rules on Cloudflare and also banned a whole country that originated the bulk of the requests. This might affect normal usage, if someone notices some breakage please ping me, I'll forward it

If you can access the wiki at all you are not affected by the country-wide ban. I am not sharing details here as we by now know that the attackers are on this channel <insert disappointment emoji of your choice here> | 08:18:56 |
