@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzonly thing missing for me is HDR13:42:10
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzthen it's pretty much on par with kwin613:42:16
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzbut afaik HDR is on the post-1.0 roadmap13:42:38
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzI have yet to try how reliably VRR works, might do that later13:43:04
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuDoes LFC work properly? Like, with cursors and such?13:44:59
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzI do not know what LFC stands for and neither does the internet, apparently13:49:11
@ghpzin:envs.netghpzinLow Framerate Compensation14:26:06
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuWhen FPS is <1/2 the refresh rate, the frame gets re-displayed n times which allows VRR with FPS below the minimum refresh rate and has latency benefits14:32:19
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuThis is usually not implemented or poorly implemented, especially when you move the cursor (visible or not)14:32:59
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzoh TIL, thx!14:44:47
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzonly mention of that is in this issue:14:45:27
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzhttps://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-comp/issues/1152#issuecomment-259374302614:45:28
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorz

Cosmic explicitly queries and tracks the lowest possible refresh rate of the display, so we don't run into Low-Framerate-Compensation, which will double the framerate quickly and thus cause flickering.

14:45:33
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuOof, that's wrong in many ways; I'll chime in with that info15:07:24
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzon an unrelated note, I'm surprised to see that gamescope session apparently works without issues on Nvidia nowadays16:14:50
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorz(at least I did not encounter any in my quick testing just now)16:15:06
@niklaskorz:matrix.orgniklaskorzand that also made me discover opengamepadui because that shows up in the NixOS options when searching for gamescopeSession16:16:34

@clay_pidgin:matrix.orgclay_pidginAnybody hosting a modded Minecraft server? 01:53:07
@clay_pidgin:matrix.orgclay_pidginI haven't hosted since before notch sold to Microsoft so I don't know how things work now. See several mod loaders fabric and forge, several servers, not all connect well. Would welcome some tips. 01:54:04
@clay_pidgin:matrix.orgclay_pidginI want to Host for my kids and their friends, so I will want a mod to protect the common areas and a way to let them protect their houses/bases. 03:40:03
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesOpen Parties and Claims is good for that03:56:28
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesFabric/Quilt are nice because they don't take three hours to launch the game. My very rough understanding is that Quilt is a community focused fork of Fabric so ideally I would use that but it's not as well maintained as Fabric so I just use Fabric03:58:26
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesWould recommend putting together your modpack from stuff only from modrinth because it's the only site for this that doesn't suck03:59:15
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesPrismLauncher can be used to improve the process of making and distributing modpacks03:59:57
@charles:computer.surgeryCharleshttps://github.com/nothub/mrpack-install then there's this tool which is good for setting up a server from a modpack04:07:33
@clay_pidgin:matrix.orgclay_pidginSo I'd run a quilt server with Mods from modrinth made into a mod pack with prism?05:06:20
@clay_pidgin:matrix.orgclay_pidgin* So I'd run a fabric server with Mods from modrinth made into a mod pack with prism?05:06:38
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesIf you so choose, yes09:04:55
@charles:computer.surgeryCharlesYou could also pick a premade modpack from modrinth instead of making your own09:07:27
