Gus | * in the past, at least in my experience, monado (which wivrn uses) has been much more stable than steamvr | 19:54:48 |
Gus | have you tried asking in #linux-vr-adventures:matrix.org ? | 19:56:47 |
Gus | have you tried asking in #wivrn ? | 19:59:01 |
davidak | i created a bugreport for that issue: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/477256
please add any context you have | 20:04:44 |
elyviere | I have the valve index. Wasn't able to get either Monado or steamvr to work. Steamvr says it wasn't set up correctly even after I tried to follow the instructions and monado just opens a blank window on my desktop and then it hangs. | 23:36:54 |
elyviere | Weirdly enough the index did start up once the first time I ran steamvr, although I was like a meter below the floor in the menu room, but since then I haven't even got video output to the headset again. | 23:37:52 |
davidak | Yeah, i would say it simply does not work on NixOS. Not sure if it works for anyone currently. You could try Bazzite instead. | 23:58:09 |

elyviere | Not sure if it's worth swapping now with the new headset coming out soon, I'll consider it | 01:01:41 |
davidak | Yes. They hopefully improve SteamVR on Linux for their SteamOS, but i'm not sure if that will fix the issues on NixOS. But you will be able to play simple games on device and still get Steam Achievements. I don't want to spend money on the Meta Store. | 01:27:31 |
Brisingr | Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but is it safe to increase the power limit (using LACT) of my GPU? I'm a noob when it comes to overclocking, hence the question. | 04:32:14 |
K900 | Yes | 07:32:29 |
K900 | The firmware won't let you go higher than safe values | 07:32:48 |
Brisingr | I see, thanks. | 08:12:42 |

davidak | WiVRn works now. I restartet it, but also restartet the computer multiple times since last tested.
But i do have no audio output in the headset. I don't have the virtual audio output. Do i have to do something special to get it?
| 09:54:58 |
davidak | * WiVRn works now, but without audio.

woobilicious | Anyone know much about Denuvo anti-tamper on Linux/Wine? I've heard it can hurt performance on Windows, which makes me wonder if it's even worse on Linux/Wine, I have a game that runs like shit and I'm wondering if it's related. | 05:02:22 |
Sandro 🐧 | *it hurts performance
For some AC Game (Origin or the one after) it was estimated at ~20% | 06:12:08 |
Sandro 🐧 | I recently played some Denuvo game and it didn't ran fine. | 06:12:44 |
Sandro 🐧 | Try looking if your CPU or GPU is bottlenecked. Maybe the game is in generally poorly optimized or some specific thing is missing in Proton. | 06:13:13 |
woobilicious | looks like both, I see CPU and GPU hitting 100% around the same time, the game is pretty poorly optimized, but I'm seeing a pretty substantial different to friends with similar hardware on Windows, I was getting like 50% of them | 06:16:36 |
Sandro 🐧 | Did you search the protondb for issues? | 06:25:20 |
Sandro 🐧 | maybe it is known | 06:25:22 |
woobilicious | Yeah people are reporting performance issues | 06:27:44 |
woobilicious | Probably is protondb has a retarded policy of marking games with a Native Linux client as "great" even if the linux client is next to useless | 06:29:33 |
