eyJhb | Is there any reason why Steam takes quite a while to start with "Waiting for network"? Is it something something bubblewrap? | 20:01:04 |
K900 | No, I think it's just Steam | 20:03:23 |
tuhana | its steam | 20:04:00 |
| 18 Apr 2026 |
eyJhb | Really? It's not uncommon to take ~5-10s before the Steam app even shows, and then 5-10s before it logs in. I might try on a different distro to see | 17:00:56 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | I find that to be normal for steam since forewer | 17:01:32 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | it's just just the way steam launcher works | 17:01:38 |
eyJhb | EVen on different distros? | 17:02:08 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | yes, even on different distros that I have ever touched | 17:02:48 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | on my legion go with both bazzite and cachy it took 10+ second to load and login, so does on my current desktop | 17:03:10 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | and on my old laptop | 17:03:15 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | I love being able to undervolt gpu's on pc. Dropped the usage of my gpu on max from 180W while having to less than 120W | 17:07:54 |
eyJhb | I just tested Bazzite, it took 5s from start till finish, and I never got the "Waiting for network" | 17:07:58 |
eyJhb | ~21s on my NixOS install | 17:08:35 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | don't know what's up with your setup then, it's been this way for me for 7 or so years with steam on linux on every distro | 17:09:58 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | that it takes some time | 17:10:02 |
Crony Akatsuki (balkan/slav) | tho I never got the "waiting for network" message with it ever | 17:10:16 |

L14m | Hi there, does somebody have knowledge with wine and can help me please? I'm using the nix-citizen flake for Star Citizen (SC) and my HOTAS behaves strange. I'm also in discussion with the LUG and the maintainer, but we didn't found a solution.
The problem is, that if I'm using the normal wine-astral my X56 gets detected with an additional duplicate (4 entries in joy.cpl). The first entry of my throttle and stick are not working, only the second ones. SC seems to grab the ghost devices and nothing is working.
If I'm switching to Umu the HOTAS is detected correctly with only 2 entries (one for throttle and another one for stick), but if I put the throttle to 100% SC only detects 50%.
With the flatpak version of SC (which uses Umu) nothing gets detected by joy.cpl (--device=all is applied).

L14m | Can someone look into the nix-citizen repo to find out, what is causing this (I don't have enough knowledge to understand this completly)? | 15:59:17 |
