@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuALVR reportedly works and AFAUI it actually uses Monado but I don't have any experience with that software as I use an Index. I don't stream and don't see why you'd want to as latency is about the last thing you want in VR. Ig warping makes rotation tolerable insofar as to not make you immediately puke from the delay? Never tried tbh because I'd rather strap a laptop on my back.18:36:42
@marie:marie.cologneMarieI'm waiting for the Frame, not sure how long it will take until it works with non SteamVR stuff18:40:37
@marie:marie.cologneMariei had a quest 3 a while ago, but returned that one. The experience for PCVR was really bad, couldn't get ALVR to not look like shit18:42:34
@marie:marie.cologneMarieand ofc meta trying to make the worst possible experience in general18:42:56
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbLatency is fine with warping and stuff. If i move my head quickly in pcvr i sometimes see blackness in the corner of my eye, but thats like, "flicking" speed. The game itself also was running at only like 40-50fps (cyberpunk2077)19:13:00

@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuWell, (rotation) warping works at even 0 fps, so that's not a huge surprise. Translation is the issue. I'd expect it to either be delayed and very unsmooth and/or have extreme framegen artifacts if the receiver uses space warp.21:40:27
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuAlso: CP2077 has VR support‽ :o21:40:47
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbEh, minor head movement was fine. The controllers are useless in that game tho, k/b only22:15:59
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rb And no, but yes, mod, so you can imagine how jank it is. But also, i get no motion sickness from vr, or almost none. First game in ages ive played was on a quest 3 with joystick sliding movement. I played for 3 hours and only after that got a bit dizzy. Which could have been general tiredness/dehydration. So im not a good benchmark for dizziness 22:17:18

@noradtux:tnxip.denoradtux If you use ALVR you might be interested in WiVRN 07:00:09

Delay hasn't been any issues, but you can also run Q3 wired using ALVR.

@miraiy:matrix.orgMiraiy Is there any way to declare game mods on Nix, or is that way outside the scope? I'm trying to install mods for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. 11:59:56
@k900:0upti.meK900 I mean conceptually you can probably set up some glue to install the right things 12:16:21

@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemu

Delay in which movement/inputs? As mentioned, head rotation will be fine regardless of FPS or latencies because rotational warping is capable of compensating for any delay – even infinite.

Translational movement and any controller movement are the critical parts. If you barely move laterally due to sliding in-game movent, it wouldn't be apparent.

I didn't have any noticeable issues playing HL:A at least, not regarding the input as well. Do you have any games in mind?
08:55:05
@eyjhb:eyjhb.dkeyJhbOh, also not really any issues in beat saber. But if i can use this as an excuse for being bad at it, then I'm fine with it :p08:55:48
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbanyone know if i can get steam input working without going through steam non-steam games? id assume not, but still worth asking09:48:24
@k900:0upti.meK900 Well there's a kernel driver for the OG controller 09:48:48
@k900:0upti.meK900And SDL supports both models natively09:49:00
@k900:0upti.meK900So anything that uses SDL will just pick it up09:49:05
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbsure but that just makes the controller working as a controller09:49:06
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbthat's not what id classify as steam input09:49:13
@k900:0upti.meK900 If you want fancier mapping, there's definitely tools out there that aren't Steam 09:49:22
@k900:0upti.meK900 But it's the same idea 09:49:39
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuLast time I looked into this, these tools were really quite lackluster13:36:41
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuI heard there's a project that can interpret SteamVR controller bindings; I would not be surprised if that was just steaminput too13:37:59
@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.orgmagic_rbInputPlumber looks to be something like i would want, not sure if it support steam input files14:13:23
