This PR points out a problem: services with DynamicUser enabled can almost only store files in standard paths (/var/lib, /var/run, etc), which makes customizing storage paths (thus selectively specifying storage devices) more difficult.
this is a glorified search provider for the other *arr services, it does not accumulate lots of data at all
01:51:37
@mjm:midna.devmjm+1 for using bind mounts, there’s not really a downside that I’m aware of02:33:57
@hexa:lossy.networkhexawell, the downside is that it is less obvious πŸ™‚ 02:39:15
@adam:robins.wtfadamcstephensyou can bind into the service as well03:26:38
@adam:robins.wtfadamcstephensand you can still precreate the user if you want. DynamicUser will re-use a matching user that already exists03:27:29
@hexa:lossy.networkhexait will also automatically depend on the .mount unit for a bind mount 03:27:50
@hexa:lossy.networkhexasystemd really does the correct thing here ;D 03:27:57
@hexa:lossy.networkhexa * systemd really does the correct thing here πŸ™‚ 03:28:00
@elvishjerricco:matrix.orgElvishJerricco hexa: Wow. I wonder why this has come up so many times for this service in particular 03:37:34
@hexa:lossy.networkhexabecause people use the other arr services and for them it makes sense but not for this one03:38:05
@elvishjerricco:matrix.orgElvishJerricco because like... yea, StateDirectory is generally right for stuff like this, and a bind mount is generally a nice and easy way to store it elsewhere 03:38:09

Is there something new with nss cacert? Now running nixpkgs-review with every PRs fail with

error checking the existence of https://tarballs.nixos.org//sha256-5v54irD0Celu78tbx5zp60KF4Xv5HyUjhz/BY+M+vi4=:
curl: (77) error setting certificate file: /nix/store/h8qhspg7pml84z8s4ghrhmx6m77rs161-nss-cacert-3.104/etc/ssl/certs/ca-bundle.crt

While running nix-build foo.src --check on latest Nixpkgs checkout with multiple packages is fine

thought, maybe async runtime in Rust can be used to improve fetchNpmDeps? (Context: Bump pkgs.netlify-cli, migrate from node2nix)

(I don't think fetchNpmDeps did parallel fetch)

@aleksana:mozilla.orgaleksana (force me to bed after 18:00 UTC) Is passthru.shellPath (first introduced in [#16189](https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/16189)) still useful as we now have meta.mainProgram? 09:13:00
