shawn8901 | In reply to @szlend:matrix.org How often does the repology fetcher run? It doesn't seem like it runs every day https://nixpkgs-update-logs.nix-community.org/~fetchers/ there should be the logs for the fetcher. But be aware that it does some extra work after fetching that there is an update available, possibly that worker queue has a lot entries | 13:54:58 |
szlend | Yes, the repology log is empty most days. | 13:56:03 |
shawn8901 | Ah, yeah I see | 14:23:45 |

sorrel | o/ r-ryantm seems unhappy to update xivlauncher to 1.0.9, due to steam-run unfreeness: https://nixpkgs-update-logs.nix-community.org/xivlauncher/2024-06-27.log
but it quite happily did the update to 1.0.8: https://nixpkgs-update-logs.nix-community.org/xivlauncher/2024-03-19.log, https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/297179
what's caused the change? | 16:45:03 |
sorrel | ^ can be ignored, this release needs manual intervention so I'm less interested in the lack of automatic update for the time being | 19:55:44 |

asymmetric | also, is the bot still being paid out-of-pocket by ryantm? that seems crazy, if so | 12:32:06 |
ryantm | There's no API. The bot is hosted by a nix-community server. I donate to them to help pay for it. | 12:58:31 |

jshcmpbll | Hi all, I just noticed a PR for a package I maintain has merge conflicts. Does anyone know the proper way to handle that? Should I just dismiss the PR or is there a mechanism to fix conflicts? Thanks!

asymmetric | In reply to @ryantm:matrix.org There's no API. The bot is hosted by a nix-community server. I donate to them to help pay for it. have you already thought about the problem of how to make it easy for maintainers to get notified of build issues with their packages?
what comes to mind is a thing where i can request the bot to send a message to the contact i have in maintainer-list.nix , proving that i control it; and then, notify me when a package i maintain breaks (via the same channel, so email/matrix).
does this seem useful and doable in the current codebase? i know zero haskell lol
