@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredfruit:posix_rename was a default00:22:17
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredbut yes if your initial backup was post 4.22.0 I don't know what's going on either00:22:35
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaur i really think it should have? based on the history of pkgs/servers/samba/4.x.nix, it looks like nixpkgs went to 4.22 on august 15 (plus channel propagation time ofc) 00:23:59
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaurand i got this set up in november00:24:17
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaurwhile i was on a nixpkgs from october00:25:05
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredare you looking at the stable branch though?00:26:07
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaur maybe fruit:model is necessary??? 00:26:13
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredor were you on unstable, sorry I forgot?00:26:18
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaurunstable yeah00:26:24
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaur i think all their examples have it set to MacSamba 00:27:00
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasauroh that's the default00:27:32
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaurnvm then00:27:34
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasauryup im baffled, sorry. lmk if there are any checks i can do for you to help, though00:30:30
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasaur

if you think it matters i made the pool and dataset like so:

zpool create -o ashift=12 -O acltype=posixacl -O canmount=off -O dnodesize=auto -O mountpoint=none -O atime=on -O relatime=on -O xattr=sa -O normalization=formD data raidz2 sda sdb sdc sdd sde sdf
zfs create -o mountpoint=legacy data/timemachine

and /timemachine is 0775 root:timemachine

00:31:41
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredyeah while you have more option the only that should matter should be xattr=sa which might even be the default now00:36:37
@samasaur:matrix.orgsamasauryeah and i saw you said you had that set :(00:37:04
@xoredg:matrix.orgxorednow I can't rebuild the thing 00:37:12
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredis giving me a download error00:37:17
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredsome dns crap I have no patience for right now00:37:31
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeDo you happen to have DNS advertised only with a link-local address (no other fallbacks)?00:56:05
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredno I mean my nix builder has decided it can't resolve download.samba.org, so I'm now (attempting) to build on the nas itself00:57:02
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy Eckenrodehttps://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/46215100:57:50
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeApparently that has been reverted. It broke the daemon on my system.00:58:20
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeSorry, apparently https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/451579 has been reverted.00:58:44
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeMy PR fixed the link-local DNS issue, but it hasn’t even made it through a staging cycle yet.00:59:18
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredfunny, my servers are ipv6 only, I wonder if its related somehow01:00:17
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredI have never heard this nas fan that loud lmaoooo01:03:24
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeSame, but I have an unadvertised IPv4 server as a fallback. I have a list of “legacy” devices that get advertised the IPv4 server because they either don’t support IPv6 or are stupid.01:07:50
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeLike Wi-Fi APs that think they’re offline if they don’t have an IPv4 DNS server even though though they work otherwise.01:08:14
@xoredg:matrix.orgxoredthat's a really cool approach I hadn't thought of that, I have basically 2 devices holding me up01:08:35
