@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringash

I got about three of those in a row

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe00233d71b8): "Spinlock timeout after 12583885 ticks, 0xfffffe002712c588 = fffffe167047d321"

And the crashed process was always “intltest” (or something similar)

11:45:47
@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringashI hoped it was something odd about my system, and hydra didn’t seem to have a problem.11:47:03
@andi:kack.itandi-Hydra is running on minis. You are using an MBP?11:47:32
@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringashA mini here11:47:44
@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringashSo maybe luck or os version dependent.11:48:04
@andi:kack.itandi-ok, I was thinking thermal issues at first (weeks ago when i first did that on the original PR) as it never happened again after I put the device upright and made sure it had plenty of breathing space.11:48:18
@andi:kack.itandi-I upgraded from 11.3 -> 11.4 tonight11:48:24
@andi:kack.itandi-and it happens on both11:48:28

Does Java still work on your system? (Complex Java code like Minecraft)
11:49:08
@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringash Maybe hydra is < 11.3? I also had problems on 11.3, but haven’t built stdenv on 11.4 yet. 11:49:17
@andi:kack.itandi-I don't use any Java11:49:28
@andi:kack.itandi-What is the easiest way to test?11:49:35
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn Behrens This jar in my java home is also crashing. Not sure how the java home is set if you do it via nix. demo/jfc/J2Ddemo/J2Ddemo.jar 11:50:52
@sso-andi:guest.nixos.devAndreas Rammhold joined the room.11:51:13
@andi:kack.itandi-I'll continue hitting that report button whenever it appears.. I am a paying customer!! (LOL)11:54:21

and some more failed to build because of dependencies

@andi:kack.itandi-Ahh, there is a pending commit that I have to push. Sorry for that.12:01:11
@andi:kack.itandi-Pull again then it should also work on darwin (Clang Stdenvs)12:02:33
@thefloweringash:matrix.orgthefloweringash andi-: I haven't looked at LTO on macos, but from tickets like https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/19098 I just thought it didn't work. Did that change? 12:10:39
@andi:kack.itandi-I don't know! I am trying to figure that out :-)12:11:05
@andi:kack.itandi-but it keeps crashing on llvm :/12:11:13
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him) thefloweringash: if there is no linker plugin it may not work at all yeah 13:02:20
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)I wonder if we could use lld for the non bootstrap python derivation though?13:02:44
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him) andi-: it fails at clang-7: error: unknown argument: '-fno-semantic-interposition' currently for minimal python on nixos currently 14:58:45
@andi:kack.itandi- mhm, perhaps the clang version is too old? I know that python 3.10 enables this by default with --enable-optimsations and only recently started doing so on GCC as well. 15:00:49
