KFears (tragedy arc) | Uhhhhhh. Right. I'll check if it helps later today | 21:33:22 |
jade_ | --cores should be setting the number of -j sent to inner make build systems or whatever, rather than the number of nix builds that happen at once | 21:33:26 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | I don't think VMs are overprovisioned, it's just Nix running a ton in parallel which my laptop can't handle | 21:33:52 |
jade_ | then yeah it's --max-jobs (-j) that is wrong | 21:39:28 |

piegames | Would be nice to get some reviews for the chain up to https://gerrit.lix.systems/c/lix/+/2071 | 09:40:22 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | Calling for NixLang experts to help me out with this CL It fixes almost every issue with lix-installer tests. The remaining issue is that cure-script still runs for rhel-v8 , rhel-v9 and fedora-v39 , and it's not supposed to run on any of those. There's also some nix flake show breakage. Both issues are due to the yucky test assembly logic in NixLang in nix/tests/vm-test/default.nix , and I can't figure it out at all https://gerrit.lix.systems/c/lix-installer/+/2075 | 11:16:10 |
K900 | Fun fact: Qt has worse Gerrit/CI integration than we do | 16:39:37 |

puck | hrm, i'm not sure about that? | 17:57:00 |
puck | just different, really. they've done a bunch of integration work here that i'm kinda impressed by | 17:57:19 |
K900 | You can't even see what it's doing | 17:58:12 |
puck | it's integrating :p | 17:59:49 |
K900 | It sure is | 18:00:11 |
V. 🏳️⚧️ | I like when the integration says "it's integration time" and integrates all over the place | 18:09:35 |
K900 | I finally found a document where it says how to know what it's actually doing | 18:09:56 |
K900 | It says "you don't lol" | 18:10:04 |
K900 | So I guess I wasn't quite correct | 18:10:19 |
K900 | Because the problem is not actually Gerrit | 18:10:26 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | In reply to @vigress9:matrix.org I like when the integration says "it's integration time" and integrates all over the place 25 y.o. integratooor I'm integraaaating | 18:31:50 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | * 25 y.o. integratoor
I'm integraaaating | 18:32:04 |

Charles | i was gonna ask if y'all would recommend buildbot but i just searched this channel for "buildbot" and i think i have my answer lol | 17:36:32 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | I've got my answer for flakes today the exact same way | 17:37:54 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | In fact, I'm in the process of bashing flakes' skull with a blog post right now, and I'll ask for proofreads maybe a few weeks later | 17:38:36 |
KFears (tragedy arc) | I'm so glad Lix is a sane project | 17:38:54 |
Dusk | In reply to @bb010g:matrix.org bisected test failures for functional-optimise-store , functional-repair , and functional-simple down to https://git.lix.systems/lix-project/lix/commit/3f07c65510d5f907c75803e7d58884bdafb78132 on my Aurora (Fedora) box okay, solved this. will submit a patch soon after figuring out Gerrit | 20:26:22 |
raitobezarius | In reply to @charles:computer.surgery i was gonna ask if y'all would recommend buildbot but i just searched this channel for "buildbot" and i think i have my answer lol It's actually the best you can afford probably | 20:49:23 |
raitobezarius | Unfortunately | 20:49:31 |
raitobezarius | We can provide Buildbot expertise, the more people are cursed with it, the highest chance we have to vanquish it | 20:49:52 |
