@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusok thanks14:49:22
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariuspennae are looking14:49:30
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusi'm going into a meeting for now14:49:35
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusit seems there's not enough information in the strace from what i read14:50:21
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusi still see daemon comms14:50:39
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusNIX_REMOTE doesn't seem to be effective14:50:43
@xokdvium:matrix.orgSergei Zimmerman (xokdvium)
In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org
NIX_REMOTE=local sudo -E strace ... nix-build ...
Shouldnโ€™t this also use the โ€œ^*โ€ syntax to build the drv outputs or does Lix not have that?
14:51:32
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariuslix does have that14:51:43
@xokdvium:matrix.orgSergei Zimmerman (xokdvium) Yeah then NIX_REMOTE=local sudo strace -fyys9999 nix build /nix/store/pc5v80nx8jivzxhxffm70bs1zh63qvyw-xz-5.8.2.tar.gz.drv doesnโ€™t do the right thing 14:52:09
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ I ran it with ^out 14:54:37
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธMaybe the env var didn't get through the sudo call14:58:08
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius sudo NIX_REMOTE=local strace ... or NIX_REMOTE=local sudo -E 14:58:12
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธTried that, but get a different error then: https://gist.github.com/r-vdp/285482dfec28459e0e84f478582b8cca14:58:27
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธSo I don't think that that works, for some reason14:58:37
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusyeah normal14:58:39
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusok14:58:41
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusso14:58:42
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius pass --no-use-cgroups as well 14:59:02
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธAh right, makes sense, it cannot use cgroups without the delegation stuff14:59:34
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius you can with systemd-run 14:59:41
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusbut the invocation is complicated15:00:12
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusso let's keep it simple imho15:00:15
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธWill need to do that, since the auto-allocate-uids doesn't work otherwise, and I don't have a nixbld group, and I think the issue might not reproduce also15:01:03
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariussystemd-run -p Delegate=yes -p DelegateSubgroup=supervisor ...15:01:19
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธIs this better? https://gist.github.com/r-vdp/285482dfec28459e0e84f478582b8cca15:06:18
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Just FYI, the original command that raito shared, used nix-build and not nix build, the latter needs ^out, the former doesn't 15:28:05
@xokdvium:matrix.orgSergei Zimmerman (xokdvium)Yeah, I was going off the issue and that stood out to me since the exit 0 was zero and no actual build happened.15:39:51
@rvdp:infosec.exchangeRamses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธYeah, indeed, because I dropped the dash... I also realised just after pasting the output15:44:49
@xokdvium:matrix.orgSergei Zimmerman (xokdvium)* Yeah, I was going off the issue and that stood out to me since the exit code was zero and no actual build happened.15:48:25
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius Ramses ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ fixes were merged 18:17:11
