@lorenzleutgeb:matrix.org@lorenzleutgeb:matrix.org left the room.16:37:09
@just1602:systemli.orgjust1602 Thanks puck you point me toward the right thing. I had followTags = true in my git config. 16:42:18
@puck:puck.moepuckyeah,. i was going to point to the config file if you didn't notice16:46:23
@just1602:systemli.orgjust1602 That's the sad part with jj, it doesn't always rely on git, but when it does the git config still applies. 16:49:26

Contrary to the release notes, we did not observe a 38 % improvement on nix search.

this should clarify that it's (presumably) referencing the Nix relnotes
16:52:48
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)it refers to our own release notes16:53:44
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)i should probably update the actual number we figured out16:53:57
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)it went past review16:54:05
@winter:catgirl.cloudWinter
build-dir no longer defaults to temp-dir

I was under the impression that this is also true in 2.93.{1..} -- if it is, maybe make the differences between latest 2.93.z and 2.94.0 the only thing there to avoid confusion? Or is this just for greater visibility?
16:57:00
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)yeah, i was on the edge on this one16:57:46
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)and i consider that repeating things is key to pedagogy16:57:54
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)there's extra information in the blog post around this feature16:58:03
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)namely two things16:58:04
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)(a) the Darwin fixes16:58:07
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)(b) the sysadmin guidance on tmpfs16:58:11
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)i did mark things that were already in 2.93.1 normally in the body, but the release notes are "raw"16:58:31
@winter:catgirl.cloudWinter
but the release notes are "raw"

still kinda not accurate if it's in the 2.94 relnotes bc it was in 2.93...?
16:59:06
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)2.94 branched off 2.93.017:00:12
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)* 2.94.0 branched off 2.93.017:00:14
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)so effectively, it's a "new" thing in the 2.94 series17:00:21
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)but i understand what you are trying to say17:00:26
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)if you have an idea on how to make this better, can you open an issue?17:00:34
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)but ideally, a solution would take into account this branching model or mesh with the releng process17:00:48
@leona:leona.isleonae.g. an additional hint "We already released this as a security fix in 2.93.1"?17:01:49
@leona:leona.isleonasorry don't have the energy today for writing a full issue and so17:02:02
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)just so i understand well, we are talking about the release notes right?17:02:07
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)no worries17:02:10
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (DECT: 7248)we are not releasing every day thankfully :p17:02:16
@leona:leona.isleonayes17:02:17
@leona:leona.isleonalike you could just write this sentence in the release notes for the items that were already released17:02:42
