@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyApple didn't bother with SMT at all01:46:38
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_so the second one is QoS Default01:46:38
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaand the launchd one has background priority?01:47:05
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilywondering how they compare for system responsiveness if you run a build that will eat all the cores01:47:05
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyutility not background but yeah01:47:14
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_i was reading stuff in my browser and the computer was not crying01:47:22
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_very un-scienticious also because i dont even have my M4 Air plugged in right now01:47:42
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyLix test suite hasn't made my system chug01:47:56
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyyou want some huge Rust build or something01:47:59
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_the interesting thing here is that the part that seems to have been affected by the QoS to produce basically the entire difference is installcheck01:48:27
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyhmm01:48:37
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilymaybe something to do with spawning a bunch of processes01:48:42
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_ so not heavy on-cpu stuff necessarily 01:48:42
@jade_:matrix.orgjade_yeah01:48:45
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusso the QoS theory is confirmed?01:53:11
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyit's probably like one of twenty things01:53:57
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusneat01:54:22
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyeventually I will convince someone that Instruments is actually good and snipe them into finding the other 19 :P01:54:22
* @raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius set someone to emilazy01:54:33
@esperlily:matrix.orgEsperLily [she/her]doesn't it? on darwin, no chroot means the sandbox is ``` (version 1) (allow default)01:56:32
@esperlily:matrix.orgEsperLily [she/her]oops01:56:34

yes and allow-setuid no

@jade_:matrix.orgjade_theres so many bugs that are just "lol someone needs to spend 2h finding them" that are massive impact :V01:57:11
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius
In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org
basically
the problem is that chroot or no chroot doesn't tell me if there's a sandbox policy that prevent me from reading outside of the Nix store
01:57:33
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusor the build directory01:57:36
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius so to simplify things, i can just assume that i can NEVER read outside of these directories 01:57:46
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariuswhich would be the maximum sandbox policy applied01:57:54
