@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesand I am starting to feel at least a little better which is why I'm talking in here at all00:30:17
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesbut I don't think it is a good idea for me to attempt to have any role in lix or floral leadership00:30:38
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesor any opinion on their direction00:30:42
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI think everyone would be hurt if I did00:30:49
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesand it's better that I stay back00:30:52
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenessorry00:30:53
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesin particular I had tried to explain my views (and, like, I'm an engineering manager and a tech lead, so I think they're not uninformed views) on why the process is bottlenecked and what to do about it00:32:35
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesand I do think that was really uh00:32:40
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesinappropriate and I should not do it again00:32:44
@kfears:matrix.orgKFears (annoying)Okay, there's a lot to unpack here, but I can relate to what you're describing. I've gotten less active around here for much the same reason: I want to fit in because I see a lot of people here like-minded, but I also feel silently rejected because I am overly pushy and bossy00:33:01
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI don't meant that I was impolite about it, only that it isn't a thing that is good for the community for me to do00:33:04
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesthe core team who started this project need to be the ones to figure out what solutions to this problem they want and believe in00:33:29
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI don't think it can come from outside00:33:34

This is a weird kind of response, because there's nothing to comment on because the rejection is silent. And it also doesn't feel malicious. But this is why it hurts so badly: it isn't an act of aggression, it's just an incompatibility being projected
00:35:32
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesit wasn't silent when it happened00:36:11
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI don't have a good sense of time, I feel like it was about two months ago but that could be way off, it's been a traumatic year00:36:39
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenes(just because of politics and stuff)00:36:47
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI don't exist in linear time in general00:36:56
@kfears:matrix.orgKFears (annoying)

it wasn't silent when it happened
Oh. That must have sucked a lot, for everyone. My condolences
00:37:09
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesyes, it did00:37:16
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesthank you00:37:17
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI'm not just making up this rule about it's not a good idea for me to talk in here, I was told not to talk in here and I decided that the request had merit so I acted on it00:38:19
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenestherefore I really should not keep going00:38:24
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesand am not going to00:38:26
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesbut I appreciate you taking an interest00:38:30
@kfears:matrix.orgKFears (annoying)

I don't think it can come from outside
But respectfully, I don't fully agree: I think the vision of the project has to be shaped by Core team, and the process has to be kickstarted by it, but I don't agree with offloading the entire process onto it: at the very least, that's just cruel and somewhat consumerist. I want to help
00:39:25
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesnow that you have context on why I'm not talking, I'm going to bow out00:39:44
@irenes:matrix.orgIrenesI encourage you to discuss that with everyone else00:39:49
@kfears:matrix.orgKFears (annoying)FWIW, it is my impression that Lix is 2 projects disguised as one: there's a "local friend group" project, and there's a "community project", and the overall Lix project hasn't figured out which it is, and this seems to be a problem00:41:10
@kfears:matrix.orgKFears (annoying)No one wants to disrupt a friend group with their bright ideas: it just sucks. Let people be and enjoy things. So if we see Lix as a "local friend group" project, it is a better idea for the people not explicitly invited to not participate at all00:42:06
