raitobezarius | I would highly recommend hexchen as representative for the NixCon matters | 09:18:45 |
raitobezarius | (and of course, whenever hexchen may not be available, I can take up the work, the idea is not to make super rigorous strict meetings about topics, my understanding is to make it easier to make people doing work visible and seeing other folks in other areas) | 09:19:37 |
@theophane:hufschmitt.net | * Hey everyone, In line with our ongoing efforts to strengthen and empower the NixOS community, numerous discussions have taken place recently, including those at NixCon, focusing on improving the structure and governance of our community. A recurring theme in these conversations is the need for greater clarity. Questions frequently arise about who can make specific decisions, the current status of various projects, and who holds responsibility for different aspects of the ecosystem. Partially continuing on the initial threads of empowering the Nix teams. I think a good and easy first step towards solving that would be to just gather leads/representatives from each team on a regular basis. That would allow people to talk to each other in a slightly more structured fashion, and help to unblock all the rest. So if you're OK with that idea, I've made a poll to find a first timeslot: https://lettucemeet.com/l/9KNXn. The goal is to have one representative from each team, if possible the team lead for the teams which have one. Taking the list of team leads from whatever is on https://nixos.org/community/, this gives:
A rough agenda for the first call could be: Presentation of each team: goal and areas of responsibility Listing the main points in the ecosystem which are lacking. Does that sound like a good plan to everyone? If so, let’s roll!

infinisil | In reply to @infinisil:matrix.org Oh also, the docs team is actually a bunch larger than on the website: https://github.com/NixOS/nix.dev/tree/master/maintainers#members (It should really be put on the website though) Théophane: The doc team member list is now updated: https://nixos.org/community/teams/documentation | 14:42:52 |

@theophane:hufschmitt.net | Nice, thanks 🙂
Can you invite the new members? I'll give them the necessary rights | 14:50:41 |
@theophane:hufschmitt.net | Hey all,
Given the results of the poll, the best time slot is Fri Nov 10 at 21:00 CET (20:00 UTC). I've just sent an invite to all the chosen representatives. Let me know if you don't get it | 14:55:04 |
@theophane:hufschmitt.net | It's also in the NixOS.org agenda at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=b9o52fobqjak8oq8lfkhg3t0qg%40group.calendar.google.com, although I don't know how to directly link to the event 🤷♂️ | 14:59:49 |
raitobezarius | Théophane: I think it's important to note that grahamc (he/him) has been unactive in the security team AFAIK (please correct me if I'm saying something wrong), may I recommend @risicle or hexa (who is probably too busy?) instead? | 15:57:45 |
raitobezarius | (unactive as I don't think I have seen any security-related activity in the past year) | 15:58:22 |
hexa | yes, currently no capacity sadly | 15:58:38 |
hexa | but risicle is a good choice if he has time | 15:58:51 |
| raitobezarius invited risicle (Robert Scott). | 15:59:01 |
hexa | graham isn't really active on matrix anymore | 15:59:06 |
hexa | also not doing working on nixpkgs security | 15:59:17 |
raitobezarius | risicle (Robert Scott): Would you have time to be active as the representative of the security team in the meetings we mention above? | 15:59:21 |
raitobezarius | I am not even sure he would show up to such a meeting alas, hence my suggestion of proposing someone else | 15:59:59 |
@theophane:hufschmitt.net | In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org Théophane: I think it's important to note that grahamc (he/him) has been unactive in the security team AFAIK (please correct me if I'm saying something wrong), may I recommend @risicle or hexa (who is probably too busy?) instead? Certainly! I was quite sad not hearing anything from the docs team. risicle (Robert Scott) didn't join the room, what's the best way of contacting him? | 16:00:00 |
raitobezarius | ah it's a gitter account | 16:00:12 |
raitobezarius | omg | 16:00:13 |
raitobezarius | how does that even work | 16:00:17 |
hexa | he was only just invited | 16:00:21 |
raitobezarius | We would ping him anyway in the security room worst case | 16:00:39 |
hexa | @r_i_s:matrix.org | 16:00:40 |
raitobezarius | thanks | 16:00:44 |
