@k900:0upti.meK900If anyone wants to start, be my guest 15:45:18
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilydo we have an update on the fate of Qt 5 WebEngine?15:45:28
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyI'm worried about that.15:45:33
@k900:0upti.meK900Basically all of Plasma 5 can go, all of Gear as well except things marked broken in kdePackages15:45:49
@k900:0upti.meK900And then we prune the tree as far down as it'll go 15:45:58
@grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.deGrimmauld (any/all)dropping pyqt5 affects some packages i genuinely care about. Notably, freecad (can be bumped to just use qt6 instead) and opensnitch-ui (i am listed maintainer and that didn't port yet...)15:45:59

@k900:0upti.meK900pyqt5 can exist, I don't think anything but plasma uses pyside515:46:42

@emilazy:matrix.orgemilywait no15:47:19
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilythat's commercial-only?15:47:21
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyit looks to me like we have 7 days.15:47:32
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily(and that's not an old post, it's from a couple months ago)15:47:57
@k900:0upti.meK900It seems they will keep publishing patches for qtwebengine at least 15:48:09
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilydo you have a source for that? 😅15:48:23
@k900:0upti.meK900Somewhere on the mailing lists 15:49:04
@grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.deGrimmauld (any/all)we should still drop it as soon as we can tbh15:50:18
@grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.deGrimmauld (any/all)or at least slap it with known vulns15:50:27
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilywhy?15:52:08
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyif Qt is patching it then it's as good as it is now15:52:13
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilythe question is just whether they are15:52:16
@k900:0upti.meK900Well it's still a really old chromium version 15:52:58
@k900:0upti.meK900Which is not great 15:53:03
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilysure. it's not great now either15:55:29
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyQt 6 WebEngine isn't that great either IIRC15:55:37
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily but not knownVulnerabilities territory imo. if there are no known vulnerabilities and ones that become known are addressed. 15:56:03
