Hadi Chokr | WOOOOOOH | 10:34:12 |
ulrik ⚡️ | I upgraded to Plasma 6.6 and the new login manager, but as soon as I get into plasma my keyboard and mouse stop working, what do I need to change in my config? | 13:02:23 |
K900 | Uhh | 13:03:20 |
ulrik ⚡️ | My setup looks essentially like this:
{
# Enable the KDE Plasma Desktop Environment.
services.displayManager = {
plasma-login-manager = {
enable = true;
};
autoLogin.enable = false;
};
services.desktopManager.plasma6.enable = true;
environment.systemPackages = [
# provide onscreen keyboard
pkgs.kdePackages.plasma-keyboard
];
programs.kdeconnect = {
enable = true;
};
}
| 13:06:23 |
K900 | That is very strange | 13:03:22 |
K900 | Can you SSH in and see if the events are reported by, say, libinput debug-events? | 13:03:36 |
K900 | Also, are you using X11 or Wayland? | 13:03:46 |
K900 | But are you choosing the X11 or Wayland session when you log in | 13:08:09 |
Hadi Chokr | Is Plasma 6.6 even in nixos-unstable right now? How do you enable it? | 13:11:16 |
ulrik ⚡️ | I don't have another computer (with SSH) handy right now | 13:13:14 |
K900 | unstable-small yes | 13:13:39 |
ulrik ⚡️ | I would assume wayland since I've been using that forever 😅 but maybe it got reset to x11 on update, I did not choose anything on login screen | 13:13:40 |
K900 | nixos-unstable no | 13:13:43 |
ulrik ⚡️ | I'm on unstable-small because I hate myself | 13:14:16 |
K900 | You know you can just go look right | 13:13:53 |
Hadi Chokr | Sounds like a lot of compiling. | 13:21:07 |
ulrik ⚡️ | It is, but I have the machine for it so it's fine. Today was particularly bad when firefox + librewolf was updated | 13:25:56 |
ulrik ⚡️ | Yes, but I have to reboot again | 13:26:03 |
Hadi Chokr | cant you echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE ? | 13:26:38 |
ulrik ⚡️ | It was preset to X11, changed to wayland and now it works | 13:27:32 |
K900 | nixos-unstable updated | 20:09:15 |
K900 | Plasma 6.6 should be available now | 20:09:21 |
mjm | Hmm logging in from new login manager is sending me to just a black screen | 21:05:15 |
mjm | Hmm its trying to start an X session. That might be why | 21:08:55 |
mjm | Indeed it was. Didn't see the button to choose it | 21:10:20 |
| 19 Feb 2026 |
K900 | OK uhhh we might want to do something about that | 00:21:41 |
Hadi Chokr | Uhh Plasma Login Manager doesnt have their PAM Files right? I want to unlock my kwallet after autologin with plasma-login-manager, its a blowfish default kdewallet with my login password and I set this in ym configs:
Relevant config:
services.displayManager.plasma-login-manager.enable = true;
security.pam.services.plasma-login-manager.kwallet = {
enable = true;
package = pkgs.kdePackages.kwallet-pam;
};
Autologin:
services.displayManager.autoLogin = {
enable = true;
user = "hadichokr";
};
Overlay removing the kwallet portal service (to avoid portal issues):
(self: super: {
kdePackages = super.kdePackages // {
kwallet = super.kdePackages.kwallet.overrideAttrs (old: {
postFixup = (old.postFixup or "") + ''
rm -f $out/share/org.freedesktop.impl.portal.desktop.kwallet.service
'';
});
};
}) | 07:28:42 |
K900 | It does, but you can't unlock it with autologin | 07:33:02 |
K900 | Because autologin does not know your password | 07:33:08 |
Hadi Chokr | So there is no way around this? | 07:34:48 |
