@sofo:matrix.org | In reply to @sandro:supersandro.de jokes aside, vim and neovim are very close and you can with a few ifs re-use the config. vi is is no longer. * This is if you use the older viml (language) over the new standard of lua in neovim. Most neovim configs are not possible to backport without serious investment. But neovim can run all plugins and configurations from vim. | 16:10:37 |
kevincox | That was kind of the point. Using the name of one of the alive projects vim or nvim suggests priority for one over the other. If we want both in a channel as would likely be useful it makes sense to pick a name that is clearly not specific about either one. Hence vi. | 16:11:36 |
@sofo:matrix.org | I see vim and neovim going further and further apart as tooling becomes more split. Like LSP integration, diagnostic tooling, and UI APIs. | 16:11:44 |

I could vouch for #vim, but #vi is a few decades too far out i think for people to realize its connection to neovim, which is what people are likely running today. Like calling Windows 10 of MSDOS-origin. | 16:13:43 |

[0x4A6F] | Please keep discussions to #matrix-discussion:nixos.organd come back with a proposal (see topic). | 16:46:42 |
infinisil | I'd like to get a #nix-hour:nixos.org channel. It'll be the main channel for the weekly Nix Hours now publicly hosted by Tweag. | 16:54:28 |
infinisil | Actually never mind, I'll just keep it on discourse for now unless there is a need for a channel :) | 18:51:15 |
markuskowa | In reply to @jcie74:matrix.org grahamc (he/him): didnt realize maybe I should highlight you, no worries if you just haven't had time. A channel like that would be nice to have. Maybe should name it HPC/Computing? | 20:07:03 |
pie_ | I don't care much in any case I just want to get that subcommunity started :) | 20:53:53 |

Dylan | Came here to suggest having/starting a Nixpkgs mobile platforms team (Android, iOS).
I've currently been attempting (and succeeding somewhat) to get Android somewhat un-borked for awhile, and it seems that iOS isn't in the best of states either
It would be nice if we had a team that could be at least mentioned or talked to when a PR comes in that might affect mobile builds | 16:39:36 |

Robert Hensing (roberth) | I'd like for us to have a #testing:nixos.org channel, about nixos tests, pkgs.testers, perhaps other testing tools. "Testing with Nix" | 13:19:30 |

@grahamc:nixos.org | In reply to @FRidh:matrix.org I suggest having a NixOS foundation channel where topics related to the foundation can be discussed. Maybe as a rule we should mention in the topic though that if a reply is sought from a board member, discourse should be used? how about I bring this to the board before setting it up? its a good idea | 13:45:40 |

[0x4A6F] | In reply to @0x4a6f:matrix.org Hey, we (RFC-0101) would like to get #nixos-rfc0101:numtide.com into the appropriate space (#topics:nixos.org?). grahamc (he/him): #rfc-101:nixos.orgis not in a NixOS space, maybe assign it to #topics:nixos.org ? | 15:50:07 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | done, thanks for the note | 15:51:07 |
Zhaofeng Li | Hi, can #Jovian-Experiments:matrix.org be added to the space? It's about running NixOS on the Steam Deck. Cc samueldr | 21:23:12 |
