hexa | well, that's probably easier to get than a mix of multi-gig ports, poe and spf+ uplink ports | 13:30:25 |

This one was added quite recently. | 14:41:23 |
adamcstephens | I use a Brocade ICX 7250 in my homelab. It's not hackable Linux switch, but it has copper, 8x10Gb and has been quite reliable :) | 14:48:16 |

hexa | Rucks* 😛 | 14:49:26 |
hexa | * Ruckus* 😛 | 14:49:29 |
hexa | stacking density up to 12 switches and 576 ports, yeah that sounds like me | 14:50:04 |
adamcstephens | yeah, but still says Brocade on the switch ;) | 14:51:01 |
adamcstephens | I only have one, a 48 port | 14:51:22 |
hexa | how much watt does it eat? | 14:51:33 |
hexa | we pay for power in germany, you know 😄 | 14:51:40 |
adamcstephens | Which is overkill on copper for me now | 14:51:42 |
adamcstephens | I've not measured what it's drawing | 14:51:55 |
hexa | can't have the switch at home draw 100W for example 😄 | 14:52:17 |
hexa | that wouold be bonkers | 14:52:23 |
adamcstephens | I pay for power as well, just much less per KWh than you do | 14:52:38 |
hexa | exactly | 14:52:45 |
adamcstephens | Also offset by the solar panels on my roof | 14:52:53 |
hexa | blargh, too much shade on my balcony for that | 14:53:13 |
hexa | * blargh, too much shade on my balcony for that to be worth anything | 14:53:17 |
adamcstephens | yeah :/ | 14:53:29 |
hexa | or I absolutely would have done that years ago already | 14:53:31 |
adamcstephens | there's a lot of trees in my city, but luckily my house has clear sky | 14:53:59 |
hexa | I'm actually just buying the gear for the hackerspace | 14:54:08 |
hexa | just shy of 1800W peak with a WSW orientation | 14:54:46 |
adamcstephens | nice. that's the directly my roof faces as well | 14:55:10 |
adamcstephens | * nice. that's the direction my roof faces as well | 14:55:17 |
raitobezarius | In reply to @emilazy:matrix.org who's gonna get NixOS on it me ofc | 14:55:36 |
hexa | mounted to the balcony and angled for 88.7% yield according to that I researched | 14:55:35 |
raitobezarius | In reply to @emantor:stratum0.org I quickly skimmed the articles and it looks like this is a purely FPGA based switch design, so my guess is that the CPU is running within the FPGA if there is need for one. The specs of the FPGA look like it may be barely able to run linux, however I would not bet on that. i mean given how open the design is, it's very plausible to extend the existing design to include a switchdev driver IMHO | 14:56:42 |
