Liyua | and a shell alias seems like a bandaid solution | 13:52:31 |
KFears 🏳️⚧️ (they/them) | In reply to @aloisw:julia0815.de It is but unknown experimental features are also rejected by the config validation. Oh, interesting... Sorry for spreading misinformation | 13:54:12 |
@aloisw:julia0815.de | Can you specify more clearly when you want to run Lix and when Nix then? I don't think I understood correctly. | 13:54:41 |
Liyua | By default I run and I want to always run lix. The problem is, that when I have nixos-anywhere evaluate the flake for remote installation the default nix is used which makes the install fail due to an evaluation error
| 13:57:08 |
@aloisw:julia0815.de | Ah, so you use nixos-anywhere regularly whenever updating the system remotely? From a cursory look at the package in nixpkgs it seems to wrap the nix package into its PATH so something like installing pkgs.nixos-anywhere.override { nix = <whathever Lix package you use>; } should work? | 14:03:49 |
Liyua | okay. I didn't even think of that. thanks!

goldstein | motivation kinda makes sense for me, I’ve seen to many horrible parsers written in nixlang | 14:30:06 |
goldstein | really hard to write a non-horrible parser in nix | 14:30:20 |
goldstein | * motivation kinda makes sense for me, I’ve seen too many horrible parsers written in nixlang | 14:33:00 |
goldstein | the “detsys suddenly dropping a giant pr with zero tests that is already merged in their fork” thing is a problem tho | 14:35:50 |

zoë (she/her) | (i'm not a member of the team, but) jade's website about page says she/they, and jade's fediverse account uses says they/she, so i'm assuming it's either just fluidity or a change since that team page was written. (again, not part of the team and not speaking for jade) | 22:11:52 |
| zoë (she/her) changed their display name from zoë to zoë (she/her). | 22:16:50 |
piegames | it's probably not intended but also fine | 22:18:30 |
delroth | the footer of lix.systems links https://chaos.social/@lix_project - that sems dead, is it? | 22:35:14 |
piegames | not generally | 22:36:37 |
piegames | but chaos.social has suffered from some heavy scraper DDOS in the past, so it might be down again rn | 22:36:56 |
piegames | * normally not | 22:37:23 |
delroth | oh yeah, it loaded now, thanks | 22:42:23 |

ptitfred | Hello  ; 2.94 release notes includes the following breaking change:
Enable zstd with a high compression level instead of xz for binary cache uploads
Does it mean somebody using Lix won't be able to take advantage of public caches?
