@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius And once you have stable infrastructure environment, plenty of things are possible and easier 14:03:27
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius We don't have maintained and stable infrastructure 14:03:34
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius Paying AWS gets us only so far, but not where we need to be 14:03:45

self hosting as much as possible would be my preference as well, but unfortunately it does seem more expensive due to needing to pay people
I think those are separate questions and problems @ more expensive
14:04:09
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius (this might not be clearly true?) 14:04:24
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfit does seem like we already struggle to maintain the infrastructure we already have. maybe some funding could help, but when I look at the state of hydra and ofborg I do have concerns about taking on more of our own infra14:04:50

We don't have maintained and stable infrastructure
Well I am undermining the excellent work of the current infra team by saying that
14:04:54
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.org raitobezarius: with all good intentions I have never seen it play out well 14:04:56
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius We didn't have that 14:04:57

raitobezarius: with all good intentions I have never seen it play out well
What project do you think of?
14:05:11
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgwell any I can remember in the past14:05:24
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius The BSD folks have 2 racks in Théo de Raadt basement and build idk 30k packages over many architectures in their cache? 14:05:31
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius It has been like this for years 14:05:39
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius When Theo goes on holidays 14:05:47
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius His family and friends have the keys to swap the disk in town 14:05:56
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius If any such need occur 14:06:02
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius I can imagine many failure scenarios 14:06:10
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.org raitobezarius: the foundation can't afford to say when 1000 of businesses rely on cache, that Theo went on vacation can family had an emergency 14:06:23
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgnot when there were other options14:06:29
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius I don't see thousands of businesses giving money for the cache  14:06:50
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius So I am not even sure this is a problem at this point 14:06:59
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgwait, we're mixing things up now14:07:13
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgif they use it, it doesn't mean they donate14:07:24
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius I think you have an implicit assumption that the community must ensure professionalism to companies 14:07:39
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius Or am I reading this wrong? 14:07:44
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgcompanies rely on this infrastructure14:08:00
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgif we can't guarantee that, everyone will move to what someone will build and provide business guarantees14:08:28
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfdo these companies contribute financially to ensure the infra is maintained?14:08:30
@domenkozar:matrix.org@domenkozar:matrix.orgthey will and that's what I'm trying to say!14:08:38
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusThat makes sense to me, Domen14:08:42
