@accelbread:matrix.org@accelbread:matrix.orgSorry if this is off-topic, but are we able to get a matrix channel for specific nix-community repos? I see some have channels under Community16:27:43
@k900:0upti.meK900You can just create one16:29:04
@k900:0upti.meK900And ask for it to be added to the space16:29:07
@accelbread:matrix.org@accelbread:matrix.orgDoesn't it have to be created in NixOS org though? I don't have permissions to create one16:30:19
@accelbread:matrix.org@accelbread:matrix.orgNot sure if I'm misunderstanding matrix16:31:47
@k900:0upti.meK900No16:31:49
@k900:0upti.meK900Rooms aren't really tied to servers16:31:56
@k900:0upti.meK900If you want a :nixos.org room alias, one can be added later16:32:03
@accelbread:matrix.org@accelbread:matrix.orgoh, nice, thanks!16:32:50
@accelbread:matrix.org@accelbread:matrix.orgCreated #flakelight:matrix.org, could this be added?16:36:44

@fgaz:matrix.orgfgaz Mic92: What about using some of these while we wait for a RISC-V machine that's suitable for the rack? 13:25:44
@joerg:thalheim.ioMic92 fgaz: sounds acceptable pricing wise 13:29:20
@joerg:thalheim.ioMic92Next weekend I want to finish the new nixos wiki infra, but I'll play around with this hardware when I get the chance to.13:31:43

Mic92: What about using some of these while we wait for a RISC-V machine that's suitable for the rack?
I'm not the right person to answer but davidlt in #riscv:fedoraproject.org has a few reasons why these cores from Alibaba are not up-to-the spec and are best used for test builds instead of actual builders.
13:35:52
@k900:0upti.meK900AFAIK those cores are also dog slow13:37:42
@thefossguy:matrix.orgPratham PatelAs are the ones in the VF2 too13:39:44
@thefossguy:matrix.orgPratham Patelcompiler optimizations are not upstream yet afaik13:39:59
@joerg:thalheim.ioMic92Are they are any cores, that are not slow for riscv64?13:40:56
@thefossguy:matrix.orgPratham PatelThey compare to the ARM Cortex A55 cores if my memory serves me right13:41:01
@fgaz:matrix.orgfgazAs far as I know they are slower than the sifive cores in compilation workloads, but it's not like this is a permanent solution13:41:01
@fgaz:matrix.orgfgaz* As far as I know they are slower than the sifive cores in compilation workloads, but it's not like this is a permanent solution anyway13:41:19
