what do you all use for ssh askpass? I had it set to seahorse's version, but that pops up a keyboard shortcut warning that requires me to use the mouse. is there a more native option?
weird, I have never seen that. Could you please open an issue?

Never had that issue, but I never configured anything different from the default. I get a native GNOME popup asking for a password (probably polkit or seahorse).

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr schuelermine: can you send the output of echo $SSH_ASKPASS? 20:29:36
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarfor GNOME, it should be this by default https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/b5f36e84d14a8ac695e306611340435ac448b7ed/nixos/modules/programs/seahorse.nix#L3420:33:53
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar but you will not see SSH_ASKPASS more than once if you store the password in the keychain 20:34:51
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfryeah, that's what I have. but I have keepassxc set up to prompt every time on key use, so I see it every time20:39:23
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr * yeah, that's what I have. but I have keepassxc set up to prompt every key use, so I see it every time20:39:34
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr * ok good, I'm on seahorse too. but I have keepassxc set up to prompt every key use, so I see it every time20:39:54
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrI guess I will file the issue20:39:59
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrso you don't see the inhibit shortcuts thing at all? oh you're on X right20:40:17
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrit's probably not a nix issue then20:40:26
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaryeah, let me check in wayland vm20:43:44
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaryeah, can reproduce21:02:49
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarthat sounds like a GNOME Shell bug21:03:00
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar hpfr: opened https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/5284 21:09:33
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrthanks. but I'm wondering why this is even necessary for the askpass dialog22:14:24
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrideally there would be just the dialog, no shortcuts prompt22:14:38
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr * thanks. but I'm also wondering why this is even necessary for the askpass dialog22:14:50
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfror some way to allowlist the executable to always inhibit shortcuts22:15:20
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaras I understand it, the point is not to inhibit shortcuts but to prevent other apps from accessing the input22:51:44
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar(the inhibition is a side effect)22:52:20
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarhere is the grabbing code https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/seahorse/-/blob/38a82911f9c35617e96587e59f796e4616d62483/common/passphrase-prompt.vala#L19322:57:15
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrhmm, I thought wayland did that by default. either way, there should be a path to removing it, because it's pretty bad UX imo22:59:02

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfryeah, makes sense. you must be on X as well08:58:11
@schuelermine:matrix.orgschuelermineI have the same problem on Wayland now10:07:29
