@ThorHop:matrix.org | In regards to diminishing returns for audio processing, what workstation grade or server grade system is sort of the "limit" before it can't push the buffer any harder? I'm wondering if you could run say iZotope Ozone "real-time" with a Threadripper or EPYC processor, with processing to spare, using a workstation/server grade CPU from a few generations ago. This is unfortunately for a Windows system :/ since it needs to run something that is only available on Mac or on Windows, which means finding some Windows Enterprise license to open up all them cores, but still. | 22:49:48 |

@fractivore:cyberia.club | If it doesn't support Linux or any free OS, it's garbage software IMO. | 19:02:36 |
@fractivore:cyberia.club | I would be willing to help you find a substitute tool that will work on NixOS or Linux. | 19:03:35 |
@fractivore:cyberia.club | But I do not have any idea about the answer to your actual question, since I stopped using windows for audio at all a couple years back. | 19:04:58 |
@fractivore:cyberia.club | It wasn't exactly an easy switch, and kept me on windows for a while after I started using Linux for everything else, so I feel your pain. | 19:22:28 |
@ThorHop:matrix.org | symys I've tried running Ableton Live via WineASIO, but PipeWire just ain't there yet and I am sort of reliant upon certain software... reliant? No. I absolfrigginlutely LOVE Ableton Live. I'm not leaving it for anything, and there really is no open source alternative. Btw, I use this rig LIVE and not just in private, and also in collaboration with others. So that means I can't just jump over to Bitwig, mostly because Bitwig is... a bit messy imho and isn't at all that great for sampling :/ But yeah, | 20:07:04 |
@ThorHop:matrix.org | However... I suspect that the Ableton Push 3 (standalone music workstation) not only runs Linux... but NixOS... | 20:07:38 |
@ThorHop:matrix.org | So in the future, if I could have Push 3 standalone, coupled with Bitwig for mixing, as well as managing MIDI devices, a 16ch audio interface and get me more overhead? Yes please. | 20:08:30 |
