@k900:0upti.meK900I don't want to fix this over new year's break13:08:37

But the fact that it works in all OSs, distros and DEs is to be applauded, take a look at other proprietary crap like Zoom...

not a very high bar to clear
If it was only a video game catalog, but it does low latency screensharing with hw accelaration, voice calls, has a big picture mode capable of managing bluetooth devices, it's better to list your machines resources than hwprobe, it can even manage your sound sink volume, etc...

@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧 Is it the ubuntu12_64 directory? 21:08:45
22 Dec 2025
@k900:0upti.meK900 No, on Windows the main Steam process itself is now 64-bit 00:19:05
@k900:0upti.meK900 The _64 runtime is for CEF currently 00:19:15
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧but that is also kinda recentlish00:19:39
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧it was not always there 😅00:19:46
@k900:0upti.meK900 Not particularly, it's been there for years now 00:22:52
@k900:0upti.meK900 They have a weird setup where steamwebhelper is 64-bit, but the core process is 32-bit 00:23:39
@k900:0upti.meK900 Presumably for security? 00:23:39
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧Not to better support 32 bit games00:26:00
@k900:0upti.meK900Definitely not because 32 bit games don't care what process is spawning them00:26:21
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧spawning does not matter but maybe some kind of RPC stuff or so00:26:45
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧or hookinh00:26:48
@sandro:supersandro.deSandro 🐧* or hooking00:26:51
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuDoes Chromium/CEF even support 32bit anymore?00:27:04
@atemu12:matrix.orgAtemuAnd I could also see this as them taking a first step towards 64bit in a relatively separate component. They're software people too; I don't doubt they'd really rather not target 32bit either.00:29:29
@k900:0upti.meK900 I don't think it officially does no 00:31:06
