aanderse | I've avoided NixOS on my steam deck up until this point - it's mostly used by my kids...
but suddenly my laptop is dead and I'm super annoyed by the lack of options while using steam deck as my primary work machine
I'm unsure how long until my laptop is replaced and i could much better manage custom software on my steam deck if it were running NixOS...
should i migrate to NixOS on steam deck now? will my kids even notice? are people still working on it?
all comments are appreciated🙇♂️ | 18:22:44 |

dminca | I don’t consider myself qualified to give parenting advice, but kids these days… they can learn a technology in a blink of an eye. Even if they notice it, if they’ll like it, they will for sure get acquainted with it in no time :) | 19:20:47 |

ChanceHarrison | Hi there. Does anyone have any idea how I might go about troubleshooting a game (Steam? Gamescope?) crash that happens intermittently when I'm playing a game? I run nvidia-offload gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 60 -o 60 -f -e -- steam, launch my game from there, play for a while, and then at some point the game (or something supporting it) will just crash.

If it helps, I'm running that command from a shell in a Hyprland session. Maybe it would make sense to boot into Gamescope directly?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

ChanceHarrison | Also, if there's a better place for this, e.g., a more general support channel, just let me know 🙏 | 07:00:10 |

matejc | What is the state of ntsync? It looks like its gonna go into the kernel 6.10 at 14th of July. What else needs to be done? Wine integration? I suppose it is already somewhere in some PR if not in unstable wine? | 11:37:24 |
K900 | ntsync is not meaningfully faster than fsync | 11:38:07 |
K900 | Which is already used by Proton and wine-staging | 11:38:14 |
K900 | And there's no fixed release date for kernels, ever | 11:38:24 |
