K900 | There is a draft Qt6 port on a branch upstream | 13:48:06 |
K900 | If you're interested in actually getting it working, that's probably the way to go | 13:48:24 |
schmittlauch (he/him) | Thx for the hint, I'll have a look. | 13:49:35 |
K900 | Qt patchset needs updating now | 20:49:08 |
K900 | I'll get it tomorrow if no one snipers | 20:49:15 |
K900 | * I'll get it tomorrow if no one snipes | 20:49:22 |
outfoxxed | I just came in here to ask about my qml engine patch since its been a while, but is Qt 5 or just the Qt 5 versions of kde stuff being dropped? | 22:48:46 |
emily | I understand the plan to be the latter for now but probably some of Qt 5 will go away too | 22:49:59 |
emily | e.g., Qt 5 WebEngine is unlikely to remain in an acceptable state after EOL | 22:50:07 |
outfoxxed | webengine makes sense at least | 22:51:26 |

K900 | In reply to@outfoxxed:outfoxxed.me I just came in here to ask about my qml engine patch since its been a while, but is Qt 5 or just the Qt 5 versions of kde stuff being dropped? We can probably send it now that 24.11 has branched off | 07:00:58 |
outfoxxed | Anything I should be doing or no? | 07:15:06 |
K900 | Uhh | 07:17:11 |
K900 | Ping me again in a couple days if you can | 07:17:18 |
K900 | I am extremely overloaded right now | 07:17:25 |
outfoxxed | alright | 07:18:41 |
K900 | Also re: Qt5, I want to at least drop Plasma and Gear | 07:27:04 |
K900 | And then as much of Frameworks as is realistic | 07:27:18 |
K900 | Qt5 itself can't go away yet | 07:28:05 |
K900 | Sadly | 07:28:07 |
emily | what are the main blockers for Qt 5 itself? | 07:35:01 |
K900 | Lots | 08:23:45 |
K900 | I don't have a list off the top of my head | 08:23:52 |
K900 | https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/358091 | 08:27:14 |
K900 | Speaking of, here's a Qt5 update | 08:27:18 |
K900 | Also can we start with gkt2 | 08:33:32 |
K900 | * Also can we start with gtk2 | 08:33:33 |
K900 | I really, REALLY want gtk2 gone at this point | 08:33:45 |
eliasp | looking at the Sentry reports at https://crash-reports.kde.org/ I can't find any reports with os.name = NixOS - there should be at least some, since I had a few crashes recently and wanted to see, whether there are other reports of those as well or whether they're NixOS specific...
does anyone have some insight how kcrash handles all this, so I could dig into this and find out, why no reports are sent? | 09:02:00 |
eliasp | ...and it would be also interesting to know, whether any of the kcrash tooling has a way to "simulate" crash to test all this? | 09:07:49 |
