@grw00:matrix.orggrw00DVFS?20:29:18
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00(nice!)20:29:25
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkNext is to finish my hydra infra for give public cache for stable nixpkgs.20:38:39
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkYep i need to work on DVFS but I still have quite a few things to do before that point.20:40:09
@radex:hackerspace.plradexdo you have your nix files for this posted anywhere yet? would love to replicate it20:40:30
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkYes, it's planned. I did it for K1, but K3 was my main goal, but my board took a really long time to arrive... I'll give you the details as soon as I'm less in the alpha stage. 20:42:17
@radex:hackerspace.plradexthanks. I'll be happy to follow along without a binary cache, I can borrow a few hundred cores to build the world20:44:49
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkI already offer several caches for arm x86_64, it seems normal to do the same for riscv, but in addition it allows me to work on hydra, I've wanted to set it up for a while.20:46:54
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00btw meant to ask if anyone has done nixos kvm project20:47:17

@grw00:matrix.orggrw00these 'nanokvm' devices are quite cheap and handy and seem to be happy running mainline, so i can build images with nix instead of stinky vendor toolchain20:48:12
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkPS : I would like to clarify that I have chosen to be 100% UEFI on my end; I think it's more future-proof.20:48:14
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00i had codex write patches until it worked, didn't dare try flashing to my 'real' nanokvm device yet but seems to work fine on the smaller modules which i expect are wired the same https://github.com/georgewhewell/nixos-nanokvm/ 20:49:18
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00i wrapped their webui too so i can re-use via this flake, works same using usb gadget and hdmi rx on my arm64 board too20:51:06
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickensWait you're doing nanokvm stuff 👀20:51:13
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickensWhoa, that's what I want the k3 for, to build a (Nix-based OS) for the NanoKVM20:51:38
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00i bought a couple and couldnt be bothered to figure out their weird os ya lol20:51:48
@rosscomputerguy:matrix.orgTristan Rosslol, the nanokvm has a Sophgo chip which has import restrictions in the US.20:51:58
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00nice :D20:52:06
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00i saw them for 5/$15, crazy20:52:30
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00cheaper than esp32 etc almost 20:52:45
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00curious what is the reason for import restriction? because they ripped off others IP without paying? would explain how they are so cheap20:53:43
@rosscomputerguy:matrix.orgTristan RossBecause they gave Huawei a shuttle of 7nm Qualcomm chips20:54:24
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00ouch, shame20:55:21
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkWhy you need such a powerful CPU for kvm ?20:55:25
@grw00:matrix.orggrw00even sg2002 has 4k30fps 😎20:57:16

@cryolitia:matrix.orgPukNgae Cryolitia🏳️‍⚧️Our NixCN community are trying to make an e-ink screen badge based on this as a Nix accessory for use at conferences.01:36:19
@dramforever:matrix.orgdramforeverrun native builds, because cross compilation is generally whack01:37:59

The news circulating here is that it's because they've developed the SG2044, which boasts sufficiently powerful AI computing capabilities.
