@jcb201625:matrix.orgJoeGreat app.. All i know how to do is nixos-rebuild test |& nom or nixos-rebuild switch |& nom .. what is it actually doing?22:46:10
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralorn😄23:10:06
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornIt parses the output und renders the tree you see?23:10:34
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornOr don’t you see it?23:10:35
@jcb201625:matrix.orgJoe I see it.. it’s nice 23:17:43

@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornSo, your question about what it does is relatively broad.^^00:13:29
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornAnything specific you wanna know?00:14:06
@jcb201625:matrix.orgJoeNope.. it's a great app. found it the other day on discourse site00:14:31

@whispers:catgirl.cloudwhispers [& it/fae] changed their display name from whispers (it/fae) to whispers [& it/fae].02:51:43
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornBrainstorming time: nom on main now has progress bars for downloads. Whoever is using nom on main has probably seen them.09:43:45
@andromeda:tchncs.deandromedawhat are we brainstorming about?09:46:43
@k900:0upti.meK900If you have nom spoons it would be nice to figure out the whole lix main progress tracking situation09:47:07
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornSorry, got a call before I could write the real question.10:03:25
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornThe progress bars have one huge problem: Their width currently jumps when the width of the tree changes. I think that is very ugly but I don’t have a good solution.10:04:44
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornYes, I am on it.10:04:52
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornAny predermined ratio of tree/progress bar will suck on some terminal widths.10:09:12
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornOkay, I had a look at the logs and could reconstruct the problem. The problem is indeed that lix reports an increase in the number of successfully finished builds shortly after the build finishes in this occurence, while it normally does it the other way around. I believe this is because during the start of the build lix is somehow still figuring out the correct number of outstanding builds in a separate thread which slows down the reporting.10:55:51
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaI don't think this is a problem in practice13:40:24
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaI've been using the download bars ever since they were on main and they're super fine13:40:48
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]i dont care much either about them getting resized13:41:27
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornHuh, I see.13:45:02
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornI find it quite questionable and am unsure whether I want it that way.13:45:41
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornBut okay. It won't stop me from releasing.13:46:00
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralorn I have an idea for the build finished detection. @hexa:lossy.network I'll try to come to the hackspace today and ideally I can implement it then. 13:47:50
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaexciting stuff!13:49:57
@k900:0upti.meK900So uh20:04:35
