nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | trying to connect to my headphones | 20:19:20 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | worked fine b4 | 20:19:23 |
llakala | kernel version? i'll try to reproduce | 20:20:42 |
llakala | In reply to @llakala:matrix.org Hi, the latest kernel just dropped on stable, and the framework drivers compatible with it haven't landed yet. I wrote a little post on how to get around this until they do, and I'm curious if people think I should post this to Discourse in some relatively important category (Announcements, Development, etc). also if anyone could let me know on this it'd be great, i should probably just make the post and stop worrying, but i'd prefer to know that it's the right thing to do first | 20:22:06 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | In reply to @llakala:matrix.org kernel version? i'll try to reproduce 6.11 | 20:27:29 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | :p | 20:27:30 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | i just disabled the kmod for now | 20:27:34 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | but it also happened in 6.10.10 | 20:27:41 |
llakala | ohh i see | 20:27:38 |
llakala | Download Screenshot from 2024-09-17 16-28-45.png | 20:29:14 |
llakala | seems to be working for me | 20:29:17 |
llakala | In reply to @niko:nyanbinary.rs sent an image. oh, one version difference i see when comparing our outputs: i'm on bluez 5.7.5, while you're on bluez 5.7.6 | 20:30:50 |
nyanbinary 🏳️⚧️ | wha font do u hav btw | 20:33:11 |
llakala | In reply to @niko:nyanbinary.rs wha font do u hav btw Monocraft, it's in the kitty fonts | 20:39:47 |
Charles | I would guess that's Minecraftia | 20:39:54 |
llakala | close | 20:40:01 |
llakala | apparently minecraftia is slightly less accurate to the original font | 20:40:10 |
llakala | at least according to a tweeti saw this week | 20:40:16 |
llakala | also i don't think minecraftia is monospaced | 20:40:53 |
llakala | relevant link https://github.com/IdreesInc/Monocraft | 20:41:03 |

aktaboot | In reply to @niko:nyanbinary.rs sent an image. fwiw I always experience issues with bluetooth, and also got this same error | 21:47:26 |
aktaboot | but it's far from new to me so i didn't really experience anything different | 21:47:56 |
aktaboot | I could trace the error up to a booted 6.10.7 | 21:49:18 |
aktaboot | I dont have logs that go before that | 21:49:44 |
llakala | Someone here brought up a great point: The new kernel mentions things related to framework laptops. On my machine (AMD 7640u), 6.11 seems to accomplish what the kmod drivers were doing for me before.
Is anyone able to replicate this on an Intel Framework? The Phoronix article only mentions a change for AMD drivers, and I'm curious whether the kmod drivers are still necessary on Intel machines.
The things to test are whether 6.10 with the kmod driver has identical functionality to 6.11 without the kmod driver. I've been testing this using Gnome's control center in the top right: it shows a little Keyboard setting when the functionality is working. I'm not sure of a way to test this without Gnome yet.
