@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgI though that would be a game changer, but... It's not.14:40:57

Has upstream confirmed they intend to support 18+ soon? You can still use codeserver, it's just gonna be marked insecure. Hydra is even still building it
14:49:19
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgWhen a derivation requires an insecure dependency, is it also marked insecure ?14:50:31
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.org Since openvscode-server and code-server both relies on VSCode, and since VScode doesn't support Node JS 18 yet, ... it's impossible to use Node JS 18 with them. 14:52:24
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.org * Since openvscode-server and code-server both inherit the VSCode source code, and since VScode doesn't support Node JS 18 yet, ... it's impossible to use Node JS 18 with them. 14:52:47

Not exactly but it won't eval unless insecure packages are allowed

Yes, you can use nodejs 16 with them?
14:53:04
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgWe can only use Node JS 16 with them.14:53:17
@lily:lily.flowersLily FosterI'm not sure I'm understanding then. Is it not working with 16 right now?14:53:39
@lily:lily.flowersLily Foster(Happy to help if you're getting problems with it)14:53:50
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgIt is currently :)14:53:55
@lily:lily.flowersLily FosterDid upstream say when they plan to support 18+?14:54:17
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgYes, let me find the PRs... 14:54:24
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.org The one for coder/code-server: https://github.com/coder/code-server/issues/6230 14:54:54
@lily:lily.flowersLily Foster(The whole openssl 1.1.1 deprecation causing node 16 to be EOL early is pretty unfortunate)14:54:55
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.orgIf you want to help, it's very welcome, especially on this PR (not related to the upgrade of NodeJS but code-server itself): https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/23428914:55:38
@lily:lily.flowersLily FosterRequest my review on that one too and I'll get to it soon14:56:01
@drupol:matrix.org@drupol:matrix.org Let me know also if there is something to fix on openvscode-server and code-server 14:56:04
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its] Lily Foster do you know if there's any news on merging this? https://github.com/lilyinstarlight/nixpkgs/tree/unheck/nodejs 23:28:33
