@sandro:supersandro.deSandrothats pretty long...19:50:03
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátIt's lots of work. It would probably be a bit better if more servers were paid for, though I can't be sure if some (other) bottleneck could appear anyway.20:08:48

It's definitely not just that, though. The aarch64-darwin staging-next queue hasn't reduced in size ~for the last day or so, and the only other builds in it are nixpkgs-unstable-aarch64-darwin, which shouldn't be stealing all the cycles

@lukegb:zxcvbnm.ninjalukegb (he/him)I'd expect building the compiler to take a long time, but even for x86_64-darwin it doesn't take more than ~a few hours for it to advance through e.g. one step of building LLVM/Clang/whatever22:00:20

@lukegb:zxcvbnm.ninjalukegb (he/him)update: looks like it's making progress now. I'm still curious how it ended up stalled for so long though; the queue-runner-status said all the slots had reservations in them, but the build status page didn't show anything running, hrm01:53:44
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát I don't know. The jobset only has 50% more shares than staging-next. I don't know details of this accounting, but it sounds likely that staging-next has depleted lots of them recently. 06:43:06
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát * I don't know. The jobset is configured with 50% more shares than staging-next. I don't know details of this accounting, but it sounds likely that staging-next has depleted lots of them recently. 06:43:31
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátRoughly one third of *-darwin is finished on staging-next.07:15:17
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátThough perhaps that was helped by several thousands of new quick failures :-/10:16:57

@trofi:matrix.orgtrofi https://hydra.nixos.org/build/152590415 evil build refuses to retry even after I fixed an URL (shich makes sense as hash did not change): https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/137378. What does it take to get "job restart" privileges? I would try a few on trunk and staging-next :) 20:21:56
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátWell, I restarted it now. (I can't give privileges anyway.)20:53:44
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátBad fixed-output derivations are a bit problematic sometimes.20:54:15
@trofi:matrix.orgtrofiThank you!21:19:45

@trofi:matrix.orgtrofiAnother suspicious failed build is llvm-10.0.1: https://hydra.nixos.org/build/151128054. Substitutions are available for me, but hydra believes it's a failing derivation.07:22:40
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátYes, that happens if it failed and then it got restarted as part of another build. The old build will remain failed, but binaries got uploaded and even log gets rewritten on retries.07:29:10
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát * Yes, that happens if it failed and then it got restarted (manually) as part of another build. The old build will remain failed, but binaries got uploaded and even log gets rewritten on retries.07:29:24
