hexa | sorry, yeah. I agree! | 18:04:56 |
hexa | Vladimír Čunát fwiw: I don't really feel like the last two comments in the cpython pr are actionable for me | 18:28:26 |
Vladimír Čunát | I was posting just some suggestions/observations. Anyway, such darwin issues will be best addressed by someone who has access to a darwin builder. It will be hard otherwise, though OfBorg can often help. | 18:42:46 |
hexa | precisely, I'm not keen on touching anything darwin really | 18:44:58 |
hexa | * precisely, I'm not keen on touching anything darwin really, hence the feeling of it not being actionable, because I also don't know my way around their bootstrap tarball. | 18:45:25 |

Vladimír Čunát | I'd wait a couple days; perhaps someone will pick it up, e.g. @thefloweringash. | 18:57:45 |
hexa | pushing 3.9.6 bump in a bit, so we can give that s hot | 19:22:14 |

hexa | sadly that went nowhere, but a good time to prepare cpython updates for the next stagind run | 20:55:40 |

hexa | * stdenv and darwin-incompatible changes are what keeps on giving | 12:06:08 |
hexa | it's not even funny | 12:06:12 |
Vladimír Čunát | We have lots of major updates in this iteration (glibc, python, perl) so maybe it's exceptional. Or we'll need to amend the mass-rebuild workflow somehow. | 12:16:16 |
Vladimír Čunát | One complication is that OfBorg is basically unusable on anything targeting staging. One could test at least the basic package by filing a PR against master and retargeting it later, but that's not very nice. That way we could get e.g. better pre-testing for x86_64-darwin (and hopefully aarch64-darwin soon). | 12:20:59 |
Vladimír Čunát | (Well, unusuable just for trying builds; for eval-time checks it's still good.) | 12:22:15 |
Sandro | What if something does not work? That workflow has a roundtrip of ages and debugging is not really possible if more than a framework of missing. | 12:30:07 |
Vladimír Čunát | It would be nice if one could get at least a macOS VM easily. | 12:31:28 |
hexa | risicle has a vm setup with macos that he bootstraps in 20 minute when he needs it | 12:32:19 |
hexa | I thought about setting one up as well, but then I'd be digging more into macOS than I'm comfortable with anyway | 12:33:42 |
