@edef1c:matrix.orgedefcan we turn off the welcome bot and script one up? that feels Slow but … might be our easiest choice17:17:27
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefi think it is essential for framing that we make it clear17:17:53

we're focusing on "fast" so we can transition to Zulip, where this will be easier

sounds good, just signaling that if I'm not responding it's not because I don't care <3

PR to the foundation and pinging me is great as well

sent an image.
if there is a thing to mint invite links that do put you through this page, we can just manually email those
17:18:41
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefand include the "read this first" there17:19:10
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefthat seems like the lowest technical complexity approach, with some risk of human error in copy-pasting a lot of emails together17:20:13
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefbut i think the admins can split the workload on that maybe?17:20:36
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilWait so invite links instead of directly sending the invite to an email?17:21:02
@edef1c:matrix.orgedef raito implied that that does show the sign-in flow 17:21:25
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilThat sounds kind of painful tbh17:21:26
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefwhich has the org description17:21:36
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius

i don't know yet for the other flow
17:21:38
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusbut maybe let's pause until i come back or infinisil can prove it17:21:45
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariuswho is also owner of the zulip17:21:47
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefi tested that, and it did not show me anything like that17:21:49
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusok17:21:56
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefi assume infinisil sent me the invite after the orgdesc was set17:22:19
@patka_123:matrix.orgpatka Can't we also move this room/discussion to Zulip? Let's us all learn the interface a bit. 17:23:33
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefi'm a little wary of giving the vibe that some people are more equal than others / get early access, given that this channel is still open and Zulip isn't officially open for business yet17:24:23
@lucperkins:matrix.org@lucperkins:matrix.org left the room.17:24:54
@patka_123:matrix.orgpatka Ah of course, was just an idea that popped up. Then nvm :) 17:24:55
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefi specifically put my signup in the normal signup thread, etc because i'd like everyone to take the same door everyone else does as much as is practical17:26:36

@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisil

So just to summarise, just tested it myself:

  • Sending invites to an email does not show the org page, additionally you cannot register using GitHub, it has to be the email you received it with
  • Invite links allow you to see the org page, and you can pick e.g. GitHub and others
17:27:20
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefyeah, i think i have like… several Zulip accounts, though it's unclear which are linked to what17:27:49
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefbut only one is actually in the org17:28:05
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilSo I think invite links are much better, but we'd have to send a ton of emails :P17:28:05
@edef1c:matrix.orgedefokay17:28:10
