@k900:0upti.meK900Big new WSL update17:18:00

@peepojuice:matrix.orgPeepsHi. I have no experience with NixOs and I wanted to try it with WSL, which brought me to this project. I have some experience using WSL with Ubuntu, so I am a little confused with the experience with NixOs after following the instructions. In Ubuntu, I have a completely separate file system than the one on Windows, but NixOs doesn't seem to? Where can I find my home directory, or /bin, or /dev, /usr, etc?17:30:49
@k900:0upti.meK900You probably were using WSL1 with Ubuntu17:31:33
@k900:0upti.meK900Which actually forwarded things to your Windows filesystem17:31:42
@k900:0upti.meK900WSL2 is a VM, so it just gets a big disk image17:31:48
@k900:0upti.meK900 If you want to browse the contents of the VM, they should be under wsl$\\ in Explorer 17:32:13
@k900:0upti.meK900 * If you want to browse the contents of the VM, they should be under \\wsl$\ in Explorer 17:32:31
@k900:0upti.meK900(which is basically a network share that's run by the VM)17:33:00
@greg:thehellings.comgregMy WSL2 filesystems are accessible alongside my normal filesystem roots17:33:13

In reply to @greg:thehellings.com
My WSL2 filesystems are accessible alongside my normal filesystem roots
The "Linux" icon in Explorer goes to the same path
17:33:37
@k900:0upti.meK900It's just not there in older Windows versions17:33:46
@k900:0upti.meK900So the UNC path is more consistent17:33:49
@peepojuice:matrix.orgPeepsNo I used WSL2 with Ubuntu. Sorry im not sure if I explained myself correctly. Like when I run my Ubuntu, i see "peepo@mypc:~$", but when i run the NixOs, it changes a bit but it shows my windows filesystem and the files of the folder where I entered NixOs. 17:35:28
@k900:0upti.meK900Oh, that's just the current directory17:35:43
@k900:0upti.meK900I think Ubuntu might reset it by default?17:35:51
@k900:0upti.meK900We don't17:35:53
@k900:0upti.meK900 You can cd ~ to get to your home directory 17:35:59
