@shard7:matrix.orgshardHi everyone, is anyone using VcXsrv here? I'm tired of the ugly borders when using GUI apps with WSLg. For some reason I have problems with VcXsrv, display and IP is set correctly but it doesn't work 🤷‍♂️17:25:34
@shard7:matrix.orgshardAnd from what I saw, VcXsrv is faster too17:26:03

@philthompson:envs.netphilthompsonHey people, been using NixOS for about a year now. However, no matter how hard I try I can't leave Windows (yet). I don't use Home Manager or Flakes. I read somewhere that support for using a channel for NixOS-WSL has been implemented but I can't find the URL. So my question is, can I add the (if it exists) NixOS-WSL channel to my existing NixOS configuration and be able to build a tar.gz that I can chuck into WSL? Granted I'll need a custom build tailored for WSL but it'd be great to get some of the config I've spent a year tweaking into Windows. Also, would the NixOS-WSL build that targets NixPkgs 24.05 work with my NixOS configuration that currently targets unstable or do I need to match the version?12:04:15
@k900:0upti.meK900Just grab the existing tarball12:10:52
@k900:0upti.meK900It has a channel setup12:10:55
@k900:0upti.meK900It does work on unstable12:11:02

In reply to @k900:0upti.me
It does work on unstable
Thanks. I guess I need to learn a bit more about channels.
14:06:08
@k900:0upti.meK900You shouldn't need to?14:06:37
@k900:0upti.meK900Just use the default tarball from CI14:06:44
@k900:0upti.meK900And then copy your config in14:06:48
@philthompson:envs.netphilthompsonAh okay. Didn't realise it was that simple. The Flu is affecting my brain. Cheers.14:07:26

@mwoodpatrickmx:matrix.orgmwoodpatrickmxI'm running NixOS on WSL and experimenting running VM's under my NixOS. I have virt-manager installed and am able to create some basic VM's running. I would appreciate any pointers to docs or info on best practices when running virt-manager & libvirtd on NixOS under WSL-2. Especially any issues related to doing this under WSL-2.13:14:28
@k900:0upti.meK900Don't, generally13:17:56
@k900:0upti.meK900Nested virt is pretty slow even on a good day13:18:03
@k900:0upti.meK900And you have Hyper-V right there13:18:07
@mwoodpatrickmx:matrix.orgmwoodpatrickmx

And you have Hyper-V right there

Can you elaborate

13:21:51
@nzbr:nzbr.denzbr (they/it) From my experience: It does work (used it to run https://github.com/foxlet/macOS-Simple-KVM) but it frequently crashed Hyper-V for me. At least that's what I assume happened - The screen just went black and it rebooted, not even a BSOD
That was on an insider build through, so it might be less crash-prone now
