K900 | Not really, no | 20:13:49 |
greg | It was, however, very easy to figure out if you've ever side loaded another distro.
Basically you:
1) Build the target
2) Load it with the WSL command
3) Launch it
4) Profit | 20:25:37 |
greg | I managed to build an Arm version for loading on my Samsung Book Go 5G without docs, having been familiar with direct loading Fedora previously | 20:26:36 |
greg | I wouldn't recommend it, because the Windows on ARM experience is kinda garbage outside of using the Edge browser. The whole terminal will just occasionally hang for about thirty seconds (and it's not Nix's fault nor even WSL's, as it also happens for cmd.exe) | 20:29:26 |
greg | But it's very feasible if you don't mind waiting for it to start responding again every once in a while | 20:29:57 |
Arson Copperflame | I have a long list of what I want to put in a documentation once I get around to writing one, but I don't have time for it at the moment | 22:02:47 |

henrik-ch | What is the best way to get these new included on my system? Reinstalling is actually not a big deal, but thought I should ask if there is a better/quicker way. | 19:38:30 |
K900 | You can just go to /etc/nixos/nixos-wsl and git pull, I believe | 19:44:20 |

K900 | So this is fun | 08:49:36 |
K900 | The latest VSCode update removes the old WSL connection methods that allowed us to sneak in the environment | 08:49:58 |
Sandro 🐧 | 💀 | 10:06:25 |
greg | Good thing vim still works. 😂 | 13:06:18 |
K900 | Lots of things still work, technically, but I am actually getting so pissed at Microsoft for not fixing this by now | 13:08:30 |
Arson Copperflame | VSCode ist currently installing an update 😨 | 16:20:32 |
K900 | RIP | 16:21:05 |
Arson Copperflame | Still works! And the settings are still there as well (On VSCode 1.77.0 now) | 16:23:09 |
Arson Copperflame | Do I need the preview version to break it? | 16:23:37 |
K900 | I don't think so | 16:24:31 |
K900 | Are you using the inotify autopatch thing | 16:24:36 |
K900 | Or nix-ld | 16:24:39 |
Arson Copperflame | nix-ld
And probably most importantly syschdemd (because someone has to be the canary for when it explodes) | 16:26:15 |
Arson Copperflame | Download image.png | 16:26:33 |
Arson Copperflame | But these are still there as well | 16:26:45 |
K900 | Huh | 16:27:57 |
K900 | Maybe the extension hasn't updated yet | 16:28:02 |
Arson Copperflame | It's gone and broken on insiders though | 16:28:11 |
Arson Copperflame | So I never close VSCode or shutdown again, got ya | 16:28:30 |
