having a couple issues running config.system.build.vmWithDisko with a tmpfs root, luks, lvm_pv, & btrfs and wasn't sure if I am misconfiguring something.

  1. it seems /mnt is never created
  2. sgdisk fails to create my 2nd partition (luks container with lvm_pv with btrfs)

I dont particularly need the vm, just want to test my disko config, before trying to install. If anyone has any insight, it would be appreciated 🙏

@lassulus:lassul.uslassulushmm, maybe more logs would help to debug that20:26:55
@lehmanator:tchncs.deSam Lehmanbacked up all my data to an external drive temporarily, so im logged out of my matrix clients. gimme a sec to transfer the logs & config to my phone20:31:34

@lassulus:lassul.uslassulus Sam Lehman: ah sorry for the delay, had to drive home 21:45:15
@lassulus:lassul.uslassulusyour end is on the same block as the beginning of the second partition21:45:25
@lassulus:lassul.uslassulusit's a bit stupid, that sgdisk does it that way21:45:33
@lassulus:lassul.uslassulusbut you need to move it one block further, not sure what the best way is to do that :D21:45:52
@lassulus:lassul.uslassulususually sgdisk does it automatically if you leave start out21:46:01

your end is on the same block as the beginning of the second partition
removing the start attr fixed that problem. now to deal with secrets for the luks decryption

hey, i was planning to add disko to my existing configuration, but i was wondering about something: does the declarative partitioning only work when installing the configuration or will it repartition automatically when running nixos-rebuild switch?

@lassulus:lassul.uslassulusOnly when installing. But we added support to run the format script manually. But its not very thoroughly tested12:53:47

Maybe you need an FAQ entry for this, seems a commonly asked question (which I also had)

@lassulus:lassul.uslassulusParted in Disko is only used in the deprecated table type. So not reaoluly supported01:52:14

@nurrng:matrix.orgElliott I see. I was looking at the table.nix documentation but I'm actually using a gpt table. 19:36:14
