@titaniumtown:envs.net | hello! is there a mechanism to produce a disk image for a platform? I saw https://github.com/nix-community/disko/issues/550 which isn't confidence inspiring. any tips? | 04:12:44 |
magic_rb | In reply to @titaniumtown:envs.net hello! is there a mechanism to produce a disk image for a platform? I saw https://github.com/nix-community/disko/issues/550 which isn't confidence inspiring. any tips? If you ran disko in a qemu vm inside a nixbuild and pointed it at a sdimage it would work probably. I install to my pi by doing a disko create, disko mount and then nixos-install. | 05:17:54 |

@titaniumtown:envs.net | h, ok | 05:18:37 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | * hm, ok | 05:18:40 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | thank you | 05:18:42 |
magic_rb | Im not sure hoe you want to handle expanding it | 05:20:49 |
magic_rb | Expanding btrfs sounds to me like a recipe for disaster, though id say that about using btrfs at all | 05:21:11 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | hm true, i'll try and stick with what nixos provides then. i just need to add some partition flags :p | 05:21:27 |
magic_rb | And id also recommend not using btrfs or any oyher fancy fs, use f2fs and tmpfs | 05:21:34 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | okie, yea i use f2fs mostly | 05:21:46 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | thank you for the tip | 05:21:56 |
magic_rb | https://git.sr.ht/~magic_rb/dotfiles/tree/master/item/nixos/systems/inkbook/filesystems.nix | 05:22:11 |
magic_rb | Thats the config for my unfinished ereader | 05:22:21 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | great, ty | 05:22:32 |
magic_rb | https://git.sr.ht/~magic_rb/dotfiles/tree/master/item/nixos/systems/gooseberry/filesystems.nix And thats my rpi that serves as a ipmi gateway | 05:22:49 |
magic_rb | Both running tmpfs as root | 05:23:09 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | ok, interesting. | 05:24:42 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | In reply to@magic_rb:matrix.redalder.org Both running tmpfs as root I'll probably end up doing smth similar | 05:24:49 |
magic_rb | It works well and saves the shitty sdcard from any writes | 05:25:09 |
magic_rb | Ive had really really really really bad experiences with sdcards in general, and especially in rpis | 05:25:31 |
magic_rb | I ran root on nfs for the longest time still with archlinux arm on my octoprint rpi because of that | 05:25:54 |
@titaniumtown:envs.net | thank you for sharing! @magic_rb i've had similar experiences lol, really sucks | 05:40:03 |
