raitobezarius | You can even say | 12:31:43 |
raitobezarius | We want to restart and run broader discussion surrounding this event and how to avoid it etc. | 12:32:04 |
raboof | edited https://chaos.social/@nixos_org/111007010535962541 and removed the picture. | 12:36:45 |
raitobezarius | Thank you so much | 12:37:05 |
Bryan Honof | Ilan Joselevich (Kranzes): I can take care of LinkedIN. Will try Twitter, maybe we can just react to our own tweet? | 13:06:08 |
Bryan Honof | Ah, I don't have access anymore to the NixOS Foundation's Twitter account, only the NixCon one apparently. | 13:15:13 |
Bryan Honof | garbas: Could you perhaps edit/reply to that message? | 13:15:26 |
raitobezarius | I think the tweet can be edited with the blue chec | 13:15:39 |
raitobezarius | * I think the tweet can be edited with the blue check | 13:15:42 |
raitobezarius | (which we do have?) | 13:15:45 |
Bryan Honof | Don't think we do. https://twitter.com/nixos_org | 13:17:32 |
garbas | We'll do the same in Twitter. Is there a link we can add to a nixcon organising statement? eg. discourse.nixos.org | 13:38:19 |
garbas | yes, I'm on it. Is there a more in depth announcement than just a quick reaction? | 13:38:58 |
garbas | Redacted or Malformed Event | 13:41:34 |

Bryan Honof | In reply to @garbas:matrix.org yes, I'm on it. Is there a more in depth announcement than just a quick reaction? raitobezarius: is working on one. | 13:50:37 |
raitobezarius | Can someone put context in the original tweet, be it as an reply or something? | 19:13:31 |
raitobezarius | The quote may not be enough unfortunately as the original tweet gives no context | 19:13:46 |

Arian | you don't have twitter Raito? I can add the comment | 08:42:47 |
Arian | Done https://twitter.com/ProgrammerDude/status/1699342497552519541 | 08:43:35 |
davidak | again interesting to see the very different reactions on X and the Fediverse | 18:27:54 |
raitobezarius | In reply to @arianvp:matrix.org you don't have twitter Raito? I can add the comment I do but I would have preferred to have the institutional account do it :P | 23:41:49 |
raitobezarius | But thank you! | 23:41:56 |
raitobezarius | In reply to @davidak:matrix.org again interesting to see the very different reactions on X and the Fediverse I'm not sure anything of value can be derived | 23:42:14 |
raitobezarius | It could be rather said as: different reactions can be seen on X/Twitter and chaos.social-induced activitypub community | 23:42:43 |

davidak | the outcry might got started, because military advertisement was posted to the local timeline of chaos.social, which is known for rather strict rules about the need for content warnings for sensitive topics like military, but many people from the nixos community in the broader fediverse joined to agree. some said, they will not attend the conference and one person even claimed that they will uninstall nixos. so this did really hurt the reputation of nixos!
while on X, there was not a lot reactions and the few where rather negative about removing the sponsor. which fits the view many have that at this point, mostly right-wing people remain on X | 01:00:47 |
raitobezarius | my point is that if you made that same toot on a far right wing part of the fediverse, you would not have the same result | 01:01:57 |
raitobezarius | yet far right wing part of the fediverse could be said to be part of the fediverse | 01:02:06 |
raitobezarius | precision in this situation matters a lot, hence why I said that I'm not sure that anything of value can be derived by lumping X vs. Fediverse so simply | 01:02:40 |
raitobezarius | no one is able to prove any valuable deeper analysis on what happened on social networks, the reality is entangled with the inherent structure of fediverse wrt to boosting, reach, etc. and same goes for new hidden rules of Twitter visibility algorithms wrt to contents, while it's true, a lot of folks moved away from Twitter to other platforms, again, without any form of objective analysis, we cannot derive from this interesting facts AFAIK | 01:04:18 |
