This is not a representation of what we are trying to do. We do not:

  • promote reddit data-harvesting / ad product
  • promote hateful comments / users

What we strive to do is:

  • grow the Nix user base
  • advertise the awesome aspects of the nix project
  • provide avenues for people to find what they need (including help even if it is in an "unofficial" space)

There are 25k users on reddit and 2.2k on discord. People find their happy nix home there. The website exists to aggregate resources about nix that users might find useful. That's why we link.

So to be honest I don't really understand if this means I am not allowed to post in here or not about this topic, so I will just point people to my open PR and say if they like @infinisil:matrix.org's suggestion to use the wiki to add more unofficial links I implemented that solution here: https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-homepage/pull/1441

if that isn't want whoever has the "decision has been made" power wants, just tell me and I can rewrite the page differently

for example, I could try and pull all the unofficial links from the wiki page to the nicos.org community page with visiually different styling from the official links. open to ideas here
