@gdesforges:matrix.org | I'm trying to think about some "mainstream" software that is well known to be messy/hard to install on typical Linux distros (e.g. has a very long Arch wiki page)
| 17:18:31 |
raitobezarius | software or service? | 18:07:39 |
raitobezarius | service, just take peertube for example | 18:08:00 |
raitobezarius | I'd say look for nodejs stuff in general | 18:08:08 |
raitobezarius | or elixir things | 18:08:11 |
@gdesforges:matrix.org | In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org software or service? Any of those, but with a focus on difficulty to get it working because of system/software depency (which Nix solves) | 18:40:25 |

@theophane:hufschmitt.net | Guillaume Desforges: not sure that's exactly what you want, but https://gitlab.com/simple-nixos-mailserver/nixos-mailserver comes to my mind | 16:24:29 |
@theophane:hufschmitt.net | Setting up a working mail server is generally a huge pain, this makes it nearly easy | 16:25:27 |

ronef | This might be a completely incorrect assumption and a random thought. When we do social posts, most of the time it's correlated with a link to a NixOS discourse post. Some social channels (like Linkedin) automatically translate that into a HUGE NixOS logo and I believe it reduces reach. Anyone here handy with some midjourney/stable/other and can create a library of a bunch of NixOS related graphics that we can use at times?
(matthewcroughan - nix.how ?)
| 00:37:23 |
matthewcroughan - nix.zone | There's https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-common-styles, that's the only effort like this that I can think of | 00:39:13 |
matthewcroughan - nix.zone | But it's not related to thumbnails/rich embeds | 00:39:21 |
matthewcroughan - nix.zone | Rather than a NixOS logo, what were you thinking it would be instead? | 00:40:19 |
raboof | Perhaps we could convince discourse to use the poster's avatar? | 02:30:14 |
raboof | The size seems to be mostly a Linkedin problem, looks kinda fine on mastodon and twitter. A huge avatar will still be ugly. Maybe we could come up with a template that includes both the logo and the avatar, making them come out smaller? | 02:42:44 |
raboof | And/or add 'NixOS' to it like in the GitHub link images | 03:09:41 |
