I'm personally quite happy with mastodon (I see you've played with it in the past as well), and I'd be happy to maintain a NixOS mastodon account. The way this would work is that it'd re-post any twitter announcements automatically (removing 'twitterisms'), but I'd also monitor the account for replies and mentions, occasionally boost relevant mastodon content etc. I already do this for a couple of accounts like https://fosstodon.org/@reproducible_builds and https://chaos.social/@hack42 . That we can all agree wont work in the long run and only leads to burnouts. While I appreciate the offer I'm worried it will create more work (eg. more coordination) for an already limited and busy team.
