@maralorn:maralorn.demaralorn sterni (he/him): Why does uqm build before ghc does?^^ 18:25:37
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him) , haskellPackages ? null I suspect? 18:26:47
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornThen maybe testing that way doesnβ€˜t make much sense for us.^^18:27:21
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)maybe yeah, but who cares really18:28:29
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)it is remotely haskell related so it's nice to see if there are any regressions that may be due to stuff we do18:28:47
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornOkay 18:38:31

Those alarm lights made me think that all builds failed or something.^^
18:46:18
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)haha we'll see :p18:46:31
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornI think for an important build running yellow alarm lights might be more appropriate. πŸ€”18:47:06
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornWe could actually have a bot for that.18:47:19
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornSetting alarmlights in the channel topic depending on the state of our jobs.^^18:47:42
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)haha18:54:25

@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)okay darwin is completely broken, but I think it is fixable09:43:58
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)unfortunately the GHC build fails at the very end, so it's gonna be a pain to fix09:44:14

wish nix had a better story for this. I guess you could use --keep-build-dir or whatever it is?

09:48:37
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)yeah, but reproducing the build env faithfully is not easy09:48:55
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)since nix-shell is different in subtle ways09:49:07
@joe:monoid.aljoe (he/him)I feel you]09:49:37
@joe:monoid.aljoe (he/him) * I feel you09:49:38

@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)https://gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/commit/ec451cac39de919621c783fec809c26fb9f0d1c8 okay this is the culprit, not too bad09:50:01
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)also I think I have actually experienced https://gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/issues/9221 now09:50:46
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)meaning when I build GHC on my server which has like a 2012 desktop PC CPU GHC builds faster than on whatever hydra was throwing it on09:51:23
