In reply to @domenkozar:matrix.org
I think that's better than nothing so I'd open a PR
https://github.com/NixOS/nix/pull/4867
08:23:30
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensI guess we will never aim for fat binaries, or am I mistaken?08:25:10
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLI think fat binaries would be rather challenging to integrate into nixpkgs, but I could be wrong08:29:48
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensI guess so to. my question was if it would be desired, or just to much work, as intel will probably go someday08:36:10
@atrius:matrix.orgmjlbachAnyone have ideas re: where make install is being called? https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/125113 16:52:19
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensDoes {20, 1, 0} says anything to anybody here? Elixir reports me this as system. uname -a says 20.6.0. Any ideas what this number is?17:11:09
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLdepends where you got that from, but I would suspect that's the otp release17:13:10
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn Behrens It's from :os.version. Interesting for me is that I see a similar number when i do uname -a 17:14:10
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensOn macos (m1). That's why I guessed it is some version from macos. But I don't know which17:14:48
@atrius:matrix.orgmjlbachAh I found it17:16:02
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLhmm indeed, on linux that's the kernel version so maybe xnu?17:16:15
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLyeah Darwin Kernel Version 19.6.017:16:31
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn Behrens this is further down: root:xnu-7195.140.13.0.1~20/RELEASE_ARM64_T8101 17:16:34
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn Behrensok, thanks17:16:42
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensI guess erlang saves which kernel compiled the binary17:16:59
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLfor me that matches the running kernel version17:18:38
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensNot for me, my iex comes from nix. shrug17:19:19
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLso does mine, but it's possible this specific build was compiled on the catalina machine17:20:32
@kloenk:petabyte.devFinn BehrensI think I never will do that low level with elixir, that this will be important :-)17:21:11
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLheh17:21:57
* @daiderd:matrix.orgLnL continues hacking on his nerves project :D17:22:09
@stick:matrix.orgprusnak changed their display name from stick to prusnak.18:04:49
@telent:matrix.orgtelent joined the room.19:22:21
@toonn:matrix.orgtoonn LnL: So, the bootstrap-tools seem to still build fine. Added a commit which uses lib.getLib for most of the /lib outputs and only tested that on the second bootstrap-tools, i.e., the one with the first passed to stdenv, produced the same output hash so I think it's fine. 19:52:40
@toonn:matrix.orgtoonn Next step is to push it to the PR and change the target branch to master? 19:52:58
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLcontext?20:22:45
@toonn:matrix.orgtoonn The LLVM 11 bump. 20:23:15
@toonn:matrix.orgtoonn #121055 20:23:21
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnLoh right, sounds good :D20:23:29
@daiderd:matrix.orgLnL ris_: based on going through the llvm pr I see we already have patches for cmake to remove frameworks 20:25:58
