mall0c | huh? #networking:nixos.org alias exists | 02:26:07 |
hexa | doesn't mean it hasn't dropped out of the space | 02:36:59 |
mall0c | I see it in my space 🤷♂️ | 02:37:35 |

Tom | For me it seems to be part of #topics:nixos.org (which itself is in #space:nixos.org). But that means ofc you need to be part of that space too (which you seem to be) and how this then all displayed is probably quite client and settings specific. | 13:09:27 |
Eli Saado | hmm yep, I'm part of that space
it doesn't display the room as part of the space on cinny or schildichat next, maybe it's time for a state reset (e.g. unlinking and relinking the room)

K900 | @kdn so wait does the NixOS netbird module just not set up the QUIC relay stuff | 19:23:09 |
K900 | Because that's the bit I was most interested in :( | 19:23:15 |
K900 | (for Russia reasons) | 19:23:46 |
kdn | no idea tbh, not working there since December and generally wasn't doing much technical stuff at all since then | 19:24:22 |
K900 | Well I guess I have something to do this weekend maybe | 19:24:45 |
K900 | Unless someone knows some other mesh VPN solution that runs over QUIC and is in nixpkgs | 19:25:01 |
kdn | is it some new feature in NetBird? | 19:25:02 |
K900 | Yes | 19:25:23 |
K900 | They supposedly have a custom relay protocol over QUIC/websockets | 19:25:37 |
K900 | That is not just STUN | 19:25:41 |
K900 | So I was trying to figure out if it can actually penetrate the slightly less great firewall | 19:26:07 |
K900 | Because amneziawg does, by pretending to be QUIC | 19:26:36 |
kdn | yeah, something like this was introduced along with custom relays for the Cloud offering (not sure if it's there yet), but I never looked into technical details
TLDR; what I know is that you don't need the STUN/TURN servers anymore and can just use the netbird's relay | 19:27:20 |
K900 | There's also an amneziawg fork that runs amneziawg directly but I tried to build it and ended up in go module heck | 19:27:25 |
