@piegames:matrix.org@piegames:matrix.orgWhat is the current state and usage of the NixOS Twitter account?11:08:37
@avocadoom:avocadoom.deavocadoomThe Twitter/x Account is as far as i know played out to from Buffer as the other accounts are too. It is on par with the rest of the accounts content wise. Or what kind of state or usage does your question refer to?11:52:46
@piegames:matrix.org@piegames:matrix.orgYes that answers my question12:30:14
@piegames:matrix.org@piegames:matrix.orgTwitter has increasingly become enshittified, with login walls everywhere and even killing Nitter as the last workaround. Do we still want to keep providing value to that network by posting content on it?12:31:16
@avocadoom:avocadoom.deavocadoom I mean, imo. it's no extra effort atm. but since IdaBzo is responsible, I tag her :D 12:33:13

@zimbatm:numtide.comJonas ChevalierI migrated all our passwords to vault.nixos.org, and sent you all invites. I'll be decomissioning the old instance immediately to reduce our costs, hope that's alright.13:07:24
@zimbatm:numtide.comJonas Chevalierbtw, I can't help but notice the 👎️ on garba's reply. Please don't do that. It doesn't help change people's opinions and generally creates an atmosphere where people drive-by up/down vote and is demoralizing to the people actually doing the things. We can disagree while still being respectful to each other.13:52:09
@piegames:matrix.org@piegames:matrix.org Jonas Chevalier while I understand your point, I'd like to point out that this is not about having a debate or changing people's minds. Sometimes it's just about agreeing to disagree 14:07:35
@zimbatm:numtide.comJonas ChevalierIt's fine to disagree. But what does it add to the conversation? If you treat it as a datapoint, it's not actionable. All it does is create this looming sense that a few people disagreed. It doesn't tell us how informed those people are and how they are putting this decision in context with the number of followers that would be lost, for example.14:27:13
@zimbatm:numtide.comJonas Chevaliermaybe I'm just grumpy :p15:56:32
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusWhat's the alternative to express disagreement? Pile on "noes"? Send PRs to remove Twitter involvement and do the consensus over there? I feel like those reactions are just the easiest way to express minor disagreements with no further action16:01:34
@idabzo:matrix.org@idabzo:matrix.orgbut to clarify: should I perform as usual and post all the messages on LinkedIn, Mastodon, and Twitter as well? It's just a disagreement, not a comment to proceed?16:56:49
@fritz.otlinghaus:helsinki-systems.deFritz OtlinghausI actually appreciate Jonas message, a thumbs down is not something parsed easily, when catching up with a room and not really helpful for the person trying to get a response. Personally I would welcome disagreement with a reason a lot more than plain disagreement. From a marketing perspective I do still see value in posting to twitter so I would argue for keep thing like they are right now, if it's not a lot of time investment.17:15:34

Regarding time investment, we use a social media management tool, afaik posting to Twitter is just toggling the "post to Twitter" switch.
