@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.org

my driving goals:

  1. Make it easier to work on (tests, docs)
  2. Make it faster (database, observability)
  3. Make it more reliable (obvervability, tests, ???)

this is of course hard to pull off in free time, and sometimes I have clients that want to pay me to do various work along these lines

@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.orgI don't know if that is enough to call it a roadmap17:05:25

Often times roadmaps result being self-fulfilling prophecies 😁

Would be a ROADMAP.md inapropriate?

@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.orgwell, maybe -- it depends. Right now, hydra is "unreleased software" and exists, essentially, to support nixos.org. This isn't true in practice, though. It might be a bit early, though, as afaik there isn't a lot to go on w.r.t. roadmap.17:20:38
@blaggacao:matrix.orgDavid ArnoldCommunicating some vision was almost always at the start of something. Though I acknowledge I can't really speak with proriety w.r.t hydra.17:23:45

@tomberek:matrix.orgtomberek I’ve keep using Hydra as a data transformation engine. Each time there is a major development I see how that use-case is impacted. I’d put something in a roadmap about that. 20:04:21

@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.orgis this way too many metrics / too high cardinality?00:16:19

@andreas.schraegle:helsinki-systems.deajs124 grahamc (he/him): if you think the metrics will be useful to you, that's good enough for me 11:30:53
@janne.hess:helsinki-systems.dedas_jyeah we can still filter out what we don't need with a metrics_relabel_config11:31:49

@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.orgcan we roll back all the changes from the past few weeks and capture this info then deploy13:37:27
@tomberek:matrix.orgtomberekYou are asking for someone to rollback a hydra deployment to capture metrics? Or to to rollback “The Hydra” deployment?14:45:01
@grahamc:nixos.org@grahamc:nixos.orgI was mostly kidding, joking about rolling back hydra.nixos.org so it is slow again15:08:00
@rick:matrix.ciphernetics.nlRick (Mindavi)Mostly, he said 🙃17:08:26
@amanda:camnet.siteAmanda (she/her) Seems hydra's flake is broken by the removal of stdenv.lib in unstable nixpkgs, unless I'm missing something / doing something wrong 20:45:45
